Hello. My webcam recently stopped working on my g73, i.e. it is not detected by any applications. When I look for it in device manager, there is not even an 'imaging devices' drop down where I would normally find it. I accidentally uninstalled the USV webcam program or whatever it was called in my 'programs list', but this was after it wasn't being detected. Windows hardware fix does not detect any hardware changes or that it needs drivers, but I tried to download drivers off of Asus's website anyway but I could not install them. Lifeframe does not even detect the camera, and 'Asus virtual webcam' does absolutely nothing. I really do not know how to fix this issue, please help if you can.

    Is System Restore an option?

Start -> App Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore

Roll it back to before you uninstalled the program.

I had that idea as well, but I have foolishly had it turned off. Thought that I had it on...

Also, my driver cd is not readily available.

    Things to try:

#1 Double check other or unknown devices, make sure it isn't in device manager someplace you haven't noticed.

#2 If it isn't in device manager, try uninstalling everything listed under 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' and reboot, this should refresh the driver stack.

#3 It possible that the cable is simply disconnected. Have you had the laptop apart for any reason since you last checked it?

Thank you so much, uninstalling the USB Controllers and rebooting worked! This laptop has given me nothing but problems.....I had to re-paste the GPU and soon I plan to open it again to remove the tape and residue from the touch pad. Oh well, I'm glad this one was an easy fix. Thanks!
