Hello. I am a character animator and use maya for animating, and i went from maya 2009 to maya 2012. And i noticed a dramatical performance decrease on maya 2012. If i play my animation on the viewport i get like 7 frames per second. So i thought it was the GPU at first but then i noticed in the task manager that the CPU was not being used at all.

I went to the affinity settings and set the Application to only use 1 of the 8 cores, and my FPS went up to 18. now that really confused me there. Maya 2012 is supposed to be a multicore app. 2009 works really smooth. I am not sure whats going on. Hoping someone can shed some light.

Hey! Yeah im a character animator as well (animated 6 years in games and now at my second year at Rhythm and Hues studios :)

The Maya renderer is multithreaded but the viewport is NOT. This is known. I have a g73Jh with maya 2013 on it. Ill test out a few things when I get a sec
