Hi.
I recently purchased an ASUS G53SW-3D gaming laptop and I pretty satisfied with it except for one really annoying problem.
While gaming, sometimes, in certain areas (usually in graphic intensive areas) the framerate drops from 60 to 20~10 for a 3 seconds then returns to normal.
This happens in almost every game including:
Skyrim
Rage
Just Cause 2 <---- (Happens even in the lowest settings)
StarCraft 2 <---- (only in High and Ultra details, smooth in Normal details)
and even Sonic Generations
Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
All drivers are up to date
and nothing suspecious is running in the background. (The Windows is fresh and I haven't installed any applications other than games except Firefox)
Power4Gears is set to maximum performance by the way and I`m using AC Adapter not the battery.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and sorry for my bad English.

Download ThrottleStop from techinferno.com.
Launch it, turn it on (there's a button for that) an minimize it (don't close it for now, leave it running).
See if that fixes the sudden drop in performance.
If that happens well you're just another victim of the infamous the throttling bug. -
HOLY CRAP!!!!
It really worked!
Finally I can play Just Cause 2 and StarCraft II smoothly!
Thanks a billion man! You are the best!
Any other hint/tip I should know about my Laptop?
Cheers man. Really appreciated! -
You're welcome.

Well nothing comes to mind, i hope Asus will fix the throttling issue in some future bios update althought i hardly think it will.
Besided youre safe to close ThrottleStop once you launched and turned it on once, since the fix will stay active until the next reboot.
Leaving it open doesnt hurt: just go into OPTIONS, check CPU and check Nvidia and GPU checkboxes, to get a nice temp reading directly on the task bar.
And be sure to check also Minimize on Close and Start Minimized, then close it, it will sit in the task bar.
If you want you can select different colors for temp readings, i have my gpu in red and cpu in green.
