First of all, I would like to thank this website for the info I have found so far.
Newegg had a Shellshocker deal of a refurbished G73 for 760 bucks. I waited all day for the sale to begin and this site popped up under a google query. Thanks to you guys I find out that the item turned out to be a Best Buy model with the gimped 460 and smaller resolution screen. I decided not to purchase and I would have been furious to find this out after i purchase.
I am still looking to buy a gaming laptop for aroun 800 bucks. I have found a G73SW-XC1 refurbished for 750 bucks. eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
I am wondering what your opinion is. I was also thinking of buying a SquareTrade warrantee with accidental coverage(works with refurbished) with it for piece of mind. I travel for a living and I'm sure road vibrations would take its toll.
Now I've only been seriously laptop hunting for 2 days now. Your input would be appreciated.

Cool, thank you sir. I thought I'd post that and see how many ppl would jump on and say "No don't do it! refurbished are crap!" I see none so far so I called them to verify what it came with and ordered. Wish me luck lol. Now to begin skin shopping....

Wow. That looks like a GREAT find. If I were you I wouldn't think twice before snatching it up. I actually purchased my G73JH as a refurb for the same price and I when I got it I couldn't tell a difference from brand new. It's been 3 months and I haven't had any major problems with mine, although I do recommend doing a clean install and update to the latest drivers if you do get it.
Seeing this makes me envious.I can't believe that you can get a Sandy Bridge CPU, full HD screen, 7200 RPM HDD, Blue Ray drive, and un-gimped GTX 460M for under $800 right now. I got my G73JH when the last of them were being phased out and I thought I got a great deal. On hindsight I probably should have waited and gotten this. Oh well, you win some and you lose some.
Getting the warranty is probably a good idea, since it can still be hit-and-miss sometimes with refurbs and you can't return this thing to the seller. But you should also know that you can register for the free 1 year ASUS accidental damage warranty, even with a refurb. I was able to do that with mine.
To give you an idea of this how something like this performs, I know someone who has an SW and he runs Battlefield 3 at full HD with mostly medium and a few high settings and it rarely slows down, even during large multiplayer games.
What do you guys think?
