I heard (at least on the acer 5920G) from TriTurbo that the difference between mPCIe and mSata is a matter of 2 swapped pins. i wonder if with the right parts and equipments if that slot can be installed? or did they have versions with both slots?

EDIT:I wonder what "TV" stand for.

TV refers to it being intended for a TV tuner. You can tell it's for a full-height mPCIe card by the location of the screw mounts, and it's right next to the (closed) external antenna port on the back of the right side:

The G73 never had mSATA, plus I think it's a waste. I'd rather go mPCIe and use it for USB 3.0 or eGPU seeing as the G73JH already has more than enough 2.5" drive bays (up to 3 if you remove the optical drive).

EDIT: wow you might not even have to do any pin mods,

They might even have mPCIe SSDs

    EDIT: m.2 adapter.

+ 2TB and growing of movies.
+ 160GB and growing of Music
+ 70gb and growing of downloads
    + VMs
    + loose files

and non of that is getting smaller. :p

and on top of all that, i'm doing multi boot on one of my desktops. if i had really good laptop with nivida card, i'd be a docking station a way from multi boot (win/lin/mac) work station... well that and extra mPCIe slots if i wanted to do VGA pass through for MVs.

I was looking at PowerNotebooks.com and they have a 15.6" unit with an i7, GTX880m, up to 32gb of ddr3, up to 3x 1TB mSata SSDs, up to 2x 2TB HDDs, 1 ODD wich can be optioned out as USB and or ODD to HDD adapter which you could install an HDD to again up to 2TB. I speced it out with some option including XM i7, 3x 1TB ssd, 2x 2TB, 24gb of Kingston and few other options and it came out 5K. way over my non existent budget but, it got me to thinking mobile workstation is viable.

in this case i'd just like ot have all my games and movies and music. With an internal 500GB or 1TB SDD and could install 2x 2TB HDDs and have Blu Ray burner. Down sides are being limited to first gen mobile i7s, PCie 1.1 x16 vs PCIe 2.0.

EDIT: Yup, when the zombie apocalypse hits, i'll have entertainment covered. :p

Usually TV card slots are wired as usb rather than mini pci-e.

Edit just saw the other thread it is pci-e.
