I just opened my G73 to clean it up inside, as it was utterly filthy with dust. Now going to put it back together i noticed that one of the cable connectors is damaged... the cable and plastic part is ok but the metal piece on the motherboard is not...

The one I'm talking about is mentioned at 5:28 in this video:
    BTOtech.com | G73Jh & G73Jw & G73Sw Disassembly Take Apart G73 g73jw service manual - YouTube

Is this important? What if I can't re-connect it?

    Thanks

Seems to work perfectly fine even without that cable.
    Great success! Hi 5. Nice.

That cable is for the speakers and is the number one thing killed by disassemblers, just so fragile.

    Thanks for the info.
The speakers do not work anymore (didn't try them before this post) however if I need sound the subwoofer provides crap quality sound to a degree, along with the headphone jack, which still works.
Lucky that it wasn't something more important.

Yeah, headphone jack will work just fine so it isn't like you killed all sound, but it still sucks.
