I wanted to know the kind of audio solution G751 laptops use. I saw it said MaxxAudio, but what about Creative software? MaxxAudio does not support positional headphone audio, like Dolby Headphone, Razer Surround, CMSS-3D, or the very best SBX Pro Studio (SBX Surround) AFAIK. This is a gaming laptop, where positional virtual surround sound is quite important! Is there no such software for this laptop? There are 2 types:
1) It takes true 5.1 or 7.1 sound and downmixes it to stereo for headphone use with positional cues that let you determine the direction of where the sound is coming from and how far away that sound is. It does so accurately too. Examples - CMSS-3D, SBX Pro Studio, Dolby Headphone.
2) It uses only stereo / 2.1 source and adds echo and reverb effects to fake surround sound, distorting the sound in the process and having absolutely no positional value/accuracy. Examples - Realtek Virtual Surround
Please tell G751 has the right type of surround sound for headphone... There's got to be one! Are there any thorough sound reviews for this laptop?

Sadly, if you are buying a current day ROG asus laptop for their sound quality you will be sorely disappointed.
I would point you in the direction of the msi gt72 that has creative sound blaster cinema and some amazing dynaudio speakers. Or even the clevo/sagers that have any range of onkyo speakers.
If you already have the asus laptop, the sound quality if it is anything similar to the g75 i used to use will be horrid. Razer surround would be your best bet. -

Just bought a G751JY laptop, it seems like ASUS takes a step backward with every new laptop. this is one of the worst sounding laptops I ever owned, very low volume for a gaming laptop, 0 bass, crap allround
The screen is its strong selling point as it's a beautiful IPS screennightingale likes this. -
Honestly I was never a fan of the built-in Creative variants, simply because of driver issues. How about you use a USB based headset (or external Creative soundcard) which has built in amplifiers and decoders?
That way you'd be independent of the laptop.
Btw. I never was a fan of virtual surround, I think it actually takes away the precision of where exactly the sound is coming from. Either true 5.1 or then true 2.0. -

They use a standard realtek chip so will depend on their drivers.
What kind of sound solution is G751 using?
