I was wondering what's the lowest clock you guys can get without having artifacts or any SOD's. I can't seem to get below 200/450~ without a complete screen distortion/crash. I've been seeing people get ridiculously low clocks and running their computers smoothly, I just can't seem to do that :(

I'm hoping that this timing problem the Asus rep is talking about is a video BIOS fix and that it also helps downclocking. I hope that they will also deliver a mature BIOS with proper downclocking support.

I edited my own Vbios that goes from 705/1100 to 100/300. Works like a charm for me.

i think you have to downclock from high to mid then to low for no problems to occur. i can go as low as 300/400 without any problems but when i go up to 300/500 i get a GSOD.

Yes for those who are unable to drastically drop the clocks, thats the only way to do so. I guess i'm one of the more fortunate ones. But at stock clocks i would gsod..

10.7a, but i've tested it to work on 10.7 and also a firepro softmod. I don't think drivers play a part when it comes to this.

    I run 300/100 on my 9800m GS at 0.68V.

I tried going from stock slowly down to 200/400 but my screen still artifacts. I did something along the lines of: 700>650>600>550>500>400>200 for engine and 1000>900>800>700>600>550>500>475 and then increments of 10 and smaller. Couldn't get my memory clock lower then 400! Seems kind of strange that the card can't do that. Any ideas?

I am using the asus 10.1 drivers, and works fine if I drop down to 200/200 manually using GPU clock tool. I use these clocks on battery, otherwise just leave it at stock clocks for AC use.

I'm running 10.6, that and the fact that I am on A/C could be the reason I can't get very low. I feel as if it has to be do something with the voltage as well; having the voltage at .9 opposed to 1.15 (I think those are the voltages on the AMDClockTool, not sure I'm at work right now, hehe) would probably help me lower the clocks, right?

I run on AC all the time and my clocks jump from 705/1100 to 100/300 just fine. My voltages i set to 1.15 for the higher clocks and 0.9 when it is down clocked. I really love the 100/300 clocks, it drastically drops my temperatures down to around 46 - 48.

I tried setting the voltage to .95 with no avail. It still artifacted when I attempted to go below 400 on memory clock :(

I use 200/300,default voltage -- if i need to downclock it.

I am on stock vbios and GpU drivers, on battery I went to 200/500 (.95 V) - no issues, then went to 100/300 and my system totally locked up.
With the 200/500 I am up to 2 full hours on battery (up from 1.5)

Strange. I don't see why I can't get 200/400 or lower. Oh well, I just wanted to get as low as possible to prolong GPU life when I'm not gaming :p Thanks guys.

Your GPU doesn't downclock at all? I thought most GPUs today automatically downclocked to lower speeds when not in use.

I can downclock with the AMD clock tool. My lowest clocks yet were 200/410~. I'm just wondering why I can't hit the super low clocks some people get. I think I failed to say that I was running 10.6 drivers, and I updated my VGA driver thing via Windows when I first got my G73 back in... early July.

    EDIT*
Oh, yeah my card downclocks on its on when I start watching YouTube and stuff like that. Goes to the default 500/1000. It's kinda annoying when I'm playing YouTube music and playing WoW window mode, cuz it downclocks to 500/1000 if I previously had my default clocks on.

If you don't want it to downclock you can try turning off video acceleration in the flash player. If not u just have to download the files then play it.

I don't mind the auto downclocking as I can easily just clock to 705/1000 and it won't budge after that.
