Mine has BIOS 206, also ATI Driver ver. 8.683.0.0 (stock Asus v. 9.12) and vBIOS 012.017.000.004.035992.
Currently running 100% stable. So i see no reason to update it until Asus fixes the GSOD issue.

Mine has BIOS 209, also ATI Driver ver. 8.683.0.0 (stock Asus v. 9.12) and vBIOS 012.017.000.004.035992. No problems, and will wait for Asus to supply new vBios. :D

I have updated to 209 Bios, vBIOS 012.017.000.004.035992 and 10.6 Catalyst with 8.741 VGA driver. I had problems with 10.3&10.4, but after updating to 10.6 no problems so far and running at 700/1000 clocks...

209 Bios, Catalyst 10.6, and the Xeven/Ziddy vbios v3, best combo in my opinion.

Amazing battery life +3 hours, Ati overdrive capable, and a 7.4 graphics on WEI.

Updated bios to 209. Still on reference drivers, was planning to upgrade and mod the vBios, but it seems asus acknowledged that they know about the issue and are working on it.

Everything stock. (Bios 206, VGA 9.12) everything is stable, no probs so far, average temps after gaming is about 87-91C, idle is 62-64C. No GSOD or anything like that.

I have played these games without any issue:
Dragon Age, GTA IV, COD Modern W. 2, Battlefield Bad C. 2, Metro 2033, Prototype, Assasins Creed 2, Dirt 2, Street Fighter IV

Though, I have to admit I just tried them (played like an hour or so with each)

BIOS 206 here (came with). Resintalled stock catalyst 9.12 after failed upgrade to 10.5, but catalyst information center report I'm still in 10.5 but driver package indicate "Driver Packaging Version 8.683-091217a-092929C" (9.12). Everything stable with stock vBIOS 012.017.000.004. Just finished MW2 with clocks as default at 1080p everything maxed out.

Planing full system upgrade through drivermax software because the software indicated that almost all drivers are outdated (cpu, momy links, bridge drivers, even VGA drivers).

If you want to checked it out, go to drivermax.com, download the client, let it running and it will show you are your hardware and drivers, and which one of them are outdated (almost all of them)

I personally wouldn't care what the DriverMax client reports. Sound like a pending headache. One thing that seems to allude the DriverMax hype is that newer is not always better.

G73JH-RBBX05 ... about a week old.... in Australia btw.

    V204 BIOS

ATI Driver package 8.741 Blah Blah, Cat. v10.6, 5/27/2010.

No errors with anything destop or gaming, havent tried fn esc... maybe one day, just installed 10.6 over stock as load times sucked in bc2.

Only question is i have no overdrive option in ccc, powerplay is there but no way of overclocking. I suppose other option is ati tool?

My gpu temps are very good, in bfbc2 max temp was 79, i have it raised off bench about an inch with chocks awaiting my Zalman NC2000.

Agree, but it gave me excellent results when I migrate to windows 7 with my old asus W2PB (no available drivers for either win7 nor x64), increasing my performance and identifying unknown hardware. BTW, it can automatically install even both VGA and HDMI ATI drivers.

PD: for anyone interested, there is newer drivers for Realtek v2.49

Or the AMD GPU clock tool v. 0.9.26. You can also flash the Xeven/Ziddy vBios to enable overdrive. You'll be doing so at your own risk though.

    Hello guys

My machine arrived last night, so I am just learning so far for what I can tell it seems ok except I have never hear the fans noise, they are running but very quiet.

1> Then I try to run a new game with this new machine (I must admit I have no experience in gaming)

Game name "Prince of Persia Forgotten sands" it took me about 15 minutes to install it, then ones i register with ubisoft I try to run the game and got this message >

An Internet connection is required to play this game. Failed to connect to the Ubisoft master servers. Please verify that your Internet connection is functional and try again.

I been looking for the solution it seems very commune thing but as i say i am not experienced with the game world. Any idea ?

3> Then since i wanted to try the graphic capability's of this machine, i decided to run Second Life,

Well I don't know if is my machine or what but i founded that the colors were very pale in Second life and i had allot of difficulty's to walk around so just gave up.

(my old lifebook was doing much better thant that in SLand colors were nice)

    Any idea ?

G73JH -X1 Bios 209 - Catalyst 10.6 - Stock Clocks Running stable. 10.5 GSOD so I used the 705/1100 trick. Went to 10.6 and back to stock clock speed and I can't make GSOD. It is very odd.

whats the best clock settings for the stock drivers? I just upgraded to 209 BIOS. It almost gave me a heart attack. It was so nerve wracking but luckily it worked and my KB lights are still alive.

It all depends on what you are doing. You might want lower clocks on battery and higher clocks when on the mains. I run 800/1100 all the time and have zero issues.

    Congratulations. Now breathe. :)

Sorry if this is off topic. For my G73JH-A1, I currently have 206 BIOS and 10.6 Catalyst. I've connected the lappie to my 46'' Sharp, and the desktop doesn't show full screen on my HDTV. The desktop still displays fully, but it doesn't use the Sharp's whole screen area. Of course, the resolution is already set @ 1080p. My old Dell XPS 1530 with Nvidia 8600GT shows full screen on the Sharp instantly once connected to HDMI.

Please help me out if you know the trick to make the graphic cards shows full desktop screen on my HDTV.

    Thanks!

Sounds like Overscan is on. It could be on with the gpu drivers or on the TV.

It turns itself on with my desktop once in a while and I have to manualy turn it off, but in the laptop version of the drivers I am not sure the option to change it is there.

Nope, been using 10.6 since it came out. OC'd to 800/1100 and played a couple hours of Crysis last night without issue. Course, I'm going to not OC that much in the future since it got pretty hot.

Played a whole day of BFBC2, Borderlands, Prototype, COD4 MW in between the World Cup matches on Ziddy's vBIOS 3 and 10.6 Cats. So far no issues.

Stock clocks only though. Haven't got to OC'ing as I didn't need the extra performance boost since everything was up to snuff. :D

No more screen flashes when the GPU downclocks to 200/500 when YouToobin' and watching .mkv/mp4 vids with DXVA.

    Happy. Camper.

    2) Yes, it supports all the G73 hardware.

Bios 209 and Asus stock 9.12

I tried Ati 10.6 last week and I had GSOD, unless I overclocked to 705/1100 but then I didn't notice performance improvement, that's why I reverted to the stock driver again.

    @dark nerd

I used this method which I took from another post:

    1) Open a command prompt window as administrator.
    2) Change to the ATI driver "bin" directory
    (e.g. C:\ATI\Support\10-6_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc\Bin64)
    3) Run the command "atisetup -UNINSTALL ALL -OUTPUT SCREEN"
    4) Wait until it completes (it takes quite a while) then do as it says - reboot.
    5) Repeat steps 1 and 2 above
    6) Run the command "atisetup -INSTALL -OUTPUT SCREEN"
    7) Wait until it completes then do as it says - reboot.

I'm yet to recieve this monster laptop, but I'm gathering information about it, so it would work fine from the start.
I would like to ask what overclocking tool should I use if I get GSOD? I don't want to change the vBIOS, oveclocking just seems a better option.

Thing is, you're supposed to overclock for stability on the new vBios.

If you want it to work fine from the start, don't update your drivers and stick with what you've got, the stock 9.12 ones.
