I'd agree with most things they say in this review, well done review. Perfomance is great, battery life great, great build quality and feel, but sluggish stock 5400 rpm HDD and average screen that should be better.

The good news is the laptop is actually pretty simple to open up and work on and upgrade HDD.

    Thanks for the link.

they wont arrive until after Nvidia launches its 700 series GPU's and intel comes out with Haswell, which likely means the second quarter of 2013.

Speaking of which, what's a good website to learn about the upcoming GPUs for both mobile and desktop computing as well as the upcoming CPUs for mobile and desktop computing? I wanna compare the 680m gtx to like the specs of the upcoming 700m series mobile GPU

    BTW google doesnt really help

thats because a lot of things are very hush hush and mainly rumors or speculations. you will probably start hearing more in the next few months.

I myself am eagerly waiting to upgrade from my g53.

The main reasons they wouldn't put in a GTX 680M are probably the price and they have no idea how cool the GTX 680M performs, mine never exceeds 73C. I fear that the top GPU that the asus can offer next year in a laptop is only GTX 770M.

Actually, the last time I checked, the designers were evaluating the 680M for the next models, but I haven't heard anything since. Considering how well the 680M meets heat and power requirements I don't see a reason why not to use it.

Not much info out right now. AMD is supposed to announce most of their 8000 series mobile GPU's in the coming months though at least. Because both AMD and Nvidia are using their new tech (keplar, whatever AMD calls their version) performance in most of the cards will liekly only be around 15% better at stock speeds than their equivalent current predecessors. The only reason there was such a big jump this generation was because both companies came out with GPU's based on new tech and last years were based on architecture that has been around for several years.

All signs for mobile Haswell processors point to very little if any increase in processing power over ivy bridge for the first generation (at least for the non one thousand dollar Xtreme ones). All the leaked spec sheets show most of the Haswell processors will be at the same stock clocks as ivy bridge ones, with the main improvements in power consumption, integrated graphics, and heat. Basically they will have the same power as ivy bridge, but your laptop will get better battery life with them, get less hot, and have better integrated graphics for when your gaming without being plugged into a wall outlet. Kind of disappointing imo, but at least the people who bought laptops this year wont have to worry about their machines going out of date any time soon.

All major gaming brands (MSI,Clevo,Alienware) offer top of the line graphics 7970 and GTX680.
Asus is behind and if they will not offer these graphics they will lose customers.I will not buy another ROG again with weaker gpu if I can get another brand with better gpu.

He had a 170EM, then sold it. Completely beyond me why he did it. Said was too loud for him, but we can all agree to disagree. Whatever.

From what I have understood ASUS prefers a bit lower specs in order to offer silence/better temperatures etc.

    It's a matter of company's strategy.

Let's wait for the new Haswell lineup.

Alienwares do have a tradition of very strong cooling performance.

I like asus design but if they will not offer 680 in next ROG series I will move to other brand.
Im not interested to pay premium price for moderate performance.Im sure that they will offer 675MX because better performance over 670 and cheaper than 680.

Will ASUS ever implement the option of manual fan control? My G75 is indeed very quiet but sometimes it does get a little hot idle (50/55 deg) i would really like to force the fan state to a minimum of 75%.
