I'm looking to purchase the Asus G53jw and need the ability to have two harddrives and an optical drive. Most online vendors do not have that two harddrives available as an option. I think I probably have to "configure" this but am wondering if I can get some help with where to shop for the best deals and with reputable online stores. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Quite a number of the Asus vendors who come to this forum sell the G53jw. However the model is currently back-ordered by everyone pretty heavily. Right now its best to choose someone, put in a preorder and hop in line. Most of us offer the second hard drive option as well, but the real G53 second hard drive brackets are also back-ordered, By the time you get one though they should be in stock. Right now any vendor who does the upgrade has to modify the g73jw bracket which isn't particularly recommended as you have to bend the tabs pretty bad to make it fit. You also have to add rubberized stabilization material to the G73jw bracket which the right bracket will have. Not a huge problem for you though as the correct hardware will be available by the time a machine would be in for you. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Xotic PC, GenTech, and PowerNotebooks are all reputable Asus dealers who post frequently in this forum and you'll find fans for all of them here. They are also pretty even in pricing, so you really can't go wrong with any of them. The deciding factor may very well come down to simply where you live if you want to save a little on sales tax or shipping (but even then, shipping deals are common).
