I've searched on these forums and found one that got close to the
answer but no dice. I've got a G74 and want to add a second HDD.

I know you have to have a data connector with the ribbon on the end...
where in the hell can I buy one?!? I've searched all the interwebz
tried multiple names and cannot find one.
I know how to hook it up, saw a YouTube how to by Pro-star
I just need help getting one!

    Please and thank you!
Or at least the proper name to search for it.

Actually you don't need a connector. Just open up the laptop from the bottom and put the new drive in. I think the g74s already have 2nd (empty) drive holder in the laptop.

The holder/caddy really should be there already, as well as a ribbon, a connector, and some screws inside a plastic bag. If you don't have it, you must have a used laptop where the previous owners didn't return those parts to the store...

It's a ribbon cable + the SATA interface and power on a thin card. There's also no part number on it. :/

I can try and find out when I get into work.

Maybe I over looked it in the box
(I can only hope im being stupid)
I'll have to check when I get home.
But im pretty sure that I did not get them.
I ordered it from pro-star got cpu upgraded and such
Its brand new(or it better damn be) so here's hoping.

and that would be great chastity if you can look it up.
If I happen to find it before hand I will post so!

Well, it should come with the unit. If you didn't get one, contact your reseller.

Yeah, just checked the box - nothing.
They probably forgot to put it back in because I had
called them asking how to do it and they acted like I should
already have the piece to do so.
    Thanks for the clarification guys!
