I purchased a G73JH when it first came out and it does not have a blueray drive. Does anyone know of a blueray drive that DOES for sure work with the G73? Any install instructions out there? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There's a single screw holding the ODD in place, under the access panel. Unscrew, and then push it out gently from behind it.
The harder part will be swapping the drive bezel.

I have this modell: Optiarc_BD_RW_BD-5730S in my g73jh a2 for over one year now. Works perfectly. Still didnt burn any blurays though

Thanks. You guys have any idea on where to get this drive?

Thank you

If you search for it on google then I am sure that you will find one place that you usually buy things from on internet.

Did that. None of the places I've ever hear of or are reputable and the prices vary wildly. So I was wondering where you guys got yours? Newegg nor B&H sells it.

I thought about doing the same thing until I realized most BDs don't come with software, and there are no decent free decoder last I checked. Have to spend a bundle on PowerDVD or WinDVD if you want to watch movies.

I really don't need a burner, and that Sony is $200. I wonder if this one would work? Newegg.com - Sony Optiarc 6X BD-ROM 8X DVD-ROM 24X CD-ROM SATA Slim Internal Blu-ray Combo Drive Model BC5640H-03 - Blu-Ray Drives

It will work.I just checked link and in specifications didnt mention connctor type. But on picture it showed sata connector and that is what you want. Only difference when it comes to slim internal BD/DVD drives is connector.
