hate you!!
keep us up to date on how it plays etc, want my desktop to be ready for this game -
I played 3 rounds. It runs great on high at 1600x900, no problems at all. Game looks great, runs great and is great. :3 I have some screenshots if anyone is interested?
-
hmm that's good news, will be playable with current asus laptops , so long as they have a quad core i would think, as BC2 struggled on a dual core, think bf3 will also want a quad core.
cant wait for it, still need to convince my local shop for a midnight launch -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
On my desktop (Check sig) which is fairly potent I'm getting 55fps of average at High preset (the highest). You can't change gtx options individually yet.
I guess on my g53 it can run around 35-40 at medium for sure. -
-
Runs at a solid 30 outside, 40-50 in the subway. Here are some screenshots I took:

how you got invited in the beta/alpha?
-
-
Were those pics on high settings?
I might be able to get away with high settings then! G53SW (so slightly better cpu than the jh) and my resolution is 1366x768. -
Kuro how dare you play BF3 before us on a 720QM
-
I'm interested to see how the Sandy Bridge will do. Pretty stoked that I might be able to play the game at high settings (albeit without the insane AA and AF). Note that this is an alpha and the optimization is still to come
-
Kuro does it give any idea if it is ATI optimised? BC2 was if I remember correctly.
-
Just whe I order my desktop gear, there's news on the BF3 for our laptops? XD
Well, I want to play at a solid fps on high settings on 1080p... Seems not so bad right now and it's just the alpha.... hmm... I need to see if I can get this XD Is it online or offline? -
Agreed yes a desktop is mighty powerful but if we can run it at High 1080p just without the SSAO and DOF then so be it im happy.
Said it once and Ill say it again desktops suck haha why have something with pretty much the same CPU,HDD,RAM power with just a better GPU but for 10 times the size. My 920XM is based on the 920X from the desktop but its in a piece of plastic the size of my foot instead of a cupboard. To me that is sexy.
Silly Blackluc -
Anyway, I'm on the alpha website but when I enter my EA account is says I do not meet the criteria to enterDo I need a game on my ea account? I have none lol... But I'm just trying to opt-in the alpha

Same frames here on an untouched RBBX05. Stock settings.
With GPU O/Ced to 800/1100 and CPU oc'ed to 1.8GHZ Ive got an average 5 FPS boost, pretty much the same avg fps boost I got from The Witcher 2.
Great game btw, multiplayer at least so far. Definitely a day 1 purchase. -
-
Plus as mentioned earlier, im sure the final product will be further optimized, PLUS better (future) driver support.
Speaking of drivers, I played it on 11.6, will try it on 11.8 and note the fps difference later today or tomorrow. -
-
-
Oh
. What settings then?
-
For the resolution, In older gamers I do not see any improvements (I tried some games when I could try a 900p external monitor) but for games like TW2 it's idk 15 more fps I think, wich makes the difference between not so playable and well playable -
Witcher 2 patch 1.2 fixed all the fps issues for me with the majority of settings on high with my sig clocks I see 35-45fps constant. -
-
I'm really only getting some problems when overclocking and playing.
For the 1.2 patch, it's bugged for me and I need to reinstall the game to get it working so I didn't try yet
Oh and yeah for BF3, what's he highest settings? Can we get screenshots of the settings page? -
-
-
i see the bst6 shouldn't have a problem either then....
-
Dang, of all the betas/alphas I wanted in on
Anyways my friend with the G60 got in, says it runs smoothly (surprisingly) on high settings. -
Really hope Skyrim do the same and I will be happy into 2012! -
Out of curiosity, how does it look on medium settings? In BC2 I found that turning effects and shadows down to medium had barely any impact on the actual quality of the image (as in, I literally couldn't notice the difference in effects and I could only tell the difference in shadows if I REALLY looked for it, and I'm normally a stickler for these things), but it doubled my framerate. I'm wondering if that might be the same case here.
Leaving textures at high, of course. I NEVER turn that down. -
consider guys that my head clan has a 2600k and a 560ti, and the games has nearly the same frames as KURO, (1080p though, from 30ish to 60ish).
And another member of my clan which was not veteran nor subscribed to EA store just got an invite himself, so do not lose hope guys, if you played Battlefiled some time, you may still get the invite even if you are not subscribed.
Anyway...
Game look damn good...
ALSO
Remember that if it is the same as BBC2, turning HBSAO off will give the best performance boost overall without touching other setting...
@Sethsez, yes, decreasing Shadow quality was also a good tips and honestly, not so much noticeable once you focus on the action over the beautifulness of the enviroments...
Maybe it was more noticiable on bigger display, you know, it is like arguing on AA... I honestly cannot notice any Anti Aliasing over the 2x -
which g60? dual core or i5/i7 one
maybe maybe laptop can actually play it o.0 -
EDIT: And he told me he wasnt overclocking. That theres the slightest bit of jitters at high settings, but attributes it to it being an Alpha, otherwise smooth. -
-
hey it is A PC PROGRAMMED GAME after all...
BF3 AIN'T console porting -
lol it's a nice change.
unfortunately all but one of my clan mates have a computer that can run it, and because of him, the console version is what everyone is considering, and others of us, both versions...lol -
Well I bought the G73 and not a ps3 for many reasons
Now I only need to buy a desktop
CrappyAlloy, may I ask you if you have BLACK OPS? I wonder about something and you are the only one I see with an updgraded CPU. -
A G73JH with i7 720QM running BF3 Alpha on High?
I still cant believe it. I was expecting Medium with Alpha. -
I got G53jw with i740QM and GTX460, 8gig RAM,1080p. Anyone with same specs played alfa? On BF forums, guys were saying that they've ran it on High with ATI 5870 (desktop card that is) and they were surprised on how well it played. And since it's Alfa, there was only three graphic settings (low, medium, high) destruction was toned down and it's only Rush mode with 32 players. I hope that final game will be well optimized
-
-
It's really strange BF3 playing that well on the G73... Hmm... is the alpha graphics complete? Or the real thing will look even better and it will then run a bit lower?
-
Anyone run this on a g74sx with the gtx560 graphics card 3gb ddr5 memory? Is so how did it perform?
Thanks alot
Ian -
get youre on justin.tv now!

I was invited to the Alpha as well, and I can safely say that the game runs fine in 1080p on my A2. (Settings maxed out.) There are slowdowns when it gets too hectic, but the lowest I've seen it drop is 20fps. It certainly runs better than Crysis.
That said, I can almost guarantee you that the final product will look better. This doesn't look nearly as good as it was hyped up to be, IMO. -

Who got the Battlefield 3 alpha?
