They used to make 15 inch versions of their 17 inch ROG laptops. Now all they have are mid range multimedia 15 inch laptops. Will there be a 15 inch ROG laptop from Asus that uses a more powerful gfx card than GTX 960m?

Market demand and chassis development, I guess they felt there was not enough interest.

Which is odd, considering that 15" notebooks with a Core i7 and GTX 970M/980M are some of the best-sellers we see in this forum.

In fact, 17" gaming notebooks seem to be a minority of those sold, which makes it odd that that's where ASUS is focusing their efforts.

They just quietly released the new version of their 15-inch. It looked pretty good, skylake i7, FHD, but they added an optical drive to it and kept it at a GTX 960, so I'll keep waiting for Razer or HP to update theirs.

It's nice, but not in the same class that Ramzay is talking about which would be 970M/980M machines.

If Asus had a 15 inch machine with high end graphics card, I'd have a very tough decision. I don't need a 17 inch laptop which weighs as much as a small moon but it's the only one with 980M and good/quiet cooling.

Packing a 980M into a lighter design requires some compromises at some point.
