No matter what I do, can't figure this out.

Got my ol' G73 up and running again, new power brick and all. Fresh install of Windows and all the necessary drivers. But the one that won't play nice is the WiFi driver.

If I try and install the Intel 6200 driver directly, it refuses saying it's not compatible. Even though it's a 64-bit installer and this is a 64-bit windows.

So if I go with the generic driver, "WiFifamily" it works. But the connection routinely drops. Or rather, it's connected but says there's no Internet Access. Which is lies, considering my other laptop right next to it, my phone, heck even my consoles all connect fine. I've tried multiple other Intel drivers though, no luck.

So I figure there's some sorta issue with the ASUS. Whether it's the drivers or the hardware itself, I'm not sure.

Could anyone help me out with this?

Are you sure it's a genuine card and not a fake?

Yep. Came with the laptop, new and from a reputable store.

At this point I reckon it's just crapping out though. I suppose it's fairly old now and it sure got a lot of use back in the day.

It's odd for the card to die but replacements are cheap at least.

Sounds like a faulty card, I have the 6200 and it worked perfectly straight away (still does). Mine only cost $20 or so over a year ago, so a cheap enough thing to just buy again.

As I recall I just let windows detect, install drivers, then went to the intel website and detected products then install the latest wifi ones from there. Just updated the drivers the other day, file you should download there is Wireless_16.11.0_Ds64.exe

Hope you get it going, great network card compared to the original atheros.
