    Will a GTX 460M fit in a asus g51vx-rx05?

    I dont believe so;
    1. It would have to be ASUS, as they use a reverse mxm design, as well as physically modifying the pcb to fit into each specific notebook series.
    2. Having said the above, I am pretty sure the G51 is pre-MXM 3.0B, which is what the 460 requires.

    May have better luck with a 280/285?

    EDIT: I stand corrected, they are all MXM3.0B, but I still believe the 460 to be too big, again, better luck with the 280/285

    So if I go gtx280m, will it be a big upgrade that I will see? Does it run cooler/hotter?

    Assuming it works; yes, it should be a big enough upgrade, more cuda cores and higher bandwidth. And of course it will run hotter, though some ICD should help with that.

    I think the highest you can go is a 260, there's a big long thread about it linked in the "READ THIS BEFORE POSTING" thread. You can go to a 360m gts, but it's not any more powerful than the 260m gtx

    I thought the G51 came with the 260? lol
