I recovered my asus g73jh to factory setting for about five times already these couple of days. Whenever i update my windows, after shutting it down, it goes in a loop of startup repair because it says windows won't boot properly, after doing the start up repair it doesnt fix anything. I tried restore but still won't boot. It either do an infinite loop of startup repair or just stay on the "starting windows screen" forever. can anybody please help me?
sincerely kezo...

try press f8 when booting and use "last known good configuration"?
-
^^^ Good Idea, if F8 does not work Kezo, and if you are using the recovery partition or DVD's then you may need to do 1 update at a time to isolate the issue.Very tedious method !
I personally would do a fresh windows 7 install with media that includes Service Pack 1 http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-7-download-links-just-like-vista-before.html
If you have a driver CD for the ASUS you can use it, or go the the ASUS support site for drivers. (better to grab latest drivers) -
Is this a new system? Are you still within your retailer's exchange/return time period?
Exactly how are you updating your system after the factory restore? The more detail you can provide, the better. -
update: i tried to boot on safe mode but it stops on classpnp.sys and stays there forever. -
It sounds like some hardware component has given up on your system if it hangs up on the first update and you can't boot into safe mode. I would look at the events in the System and Application Logs after your Windows install to see if it points to some troubleshooting direction.
I'd run a CHKDSK C: /F /R to see if the disk reports bad blocks and/or run SpeedFan's online HDD Diagnostic Summary.
I'd run memtest86+ on memory stick pairs for 3 passes each to confirm your memory is sound
Do you have any peripheral devices connected to the laptop when you boot after the update install? -
i only have my mouse connected to my laptop. -
Take a look at this thread hangs on startup-- last driver to successfully load in safe mode is - Microsoft Answers
Here's another one http://social.technet.microsoft.com...l/thread/566cdd43-ce91-4e64-93e0-8d09d8fc1ea0. Interesting how a faulty WiFi card (and other hardware) can cause this issue.
Check your BIOS. settings and/or "Load Optimized Defaults" (F9) then Save &
Exit.
I'd still be lookin' at those Event Logs for a direction. -
update: what i did was: I set windows update on automatic then install it during shutdown, so far I do not see signs of the problem, but we'll see, gonna keep you posted if any problem will arise.
I will try that thread's solution if this problem is not yet fixed as for now im still checking.
Windows 7 won't boot after an update, I need help.
