Hi All - Wondering what others are getting for the Windows Processor sub score on the G73Sw? I'm getting 6.4 but I thought it was faster in the past. Thx!

depends which version of the g73 you get. I don't even know if the SB one comes with an i5, but it wouldn't surprise me.

No it's the new one with the Sandy Bridge. I thought it was low; I've done nothing to it except install the latest Nvida driver from the NVida site. I did unstill some bloatware; what should I be looking at?

I guess start by making sure you are in High Performance mode, then re-run the test, maybe when it ran the first time, something was taking up some of the CPU, causing it to be a lower score.

And DCx was meaning if its the SB quadcore( i7 2630qm) or if its a dual core(i5 2410). I think so far, I've only seen the BB G53SW with a dual core SB, but DCx was just ruling that out for you.

yes it was on high performance and it is the i7 2630qm. I might reload all the drivers and see what happens. Bit frustrating.

    7.9 is the max rating...

The JH has a rating of 5.9 be happy with 7.1

The Hard drive is limiting Factor on my JH.. Darn 5400 drive...

Now this is interesting. When I go under the system information for the assessment it tells me that its only a dual core machine and not a quad. I get no place near 7.. Going to reload before I call for an RMA.

Here is my rating; pay attention to the number of cores:

Open up task manager and see if you actually have all cores visible.

If not, then you'll have to do some tweaking.

Run msconfig - go to boot tab/advanced options. The "number of processors" checkbox should be unchecked...is it?

I show four cores but process monitor only says two is available. The wife's G73 shows "4" on this same screen and in process monitor. Something is fubar; what I don't know. Going to reload back to the base tonight to see what happens.

Two of your cores may very well be dead man.. That happened to a friend of mine.. so thats something to think about as well.

MarkS has the usual solution to this problem. Give that a try and reboot and Windows and CPU-Z should be showing 4 cores and 8 threads.

Mark - you hit it right on the head! It was checked and locked to 4 cores; once I cleared that everything came back and my processor score ran up to 7.4 once again. I can't figure out how it got checked and I'm the only admin on the box. Upsetting Asus support didn't know this. :(
