    Hey all,

I bought another 2gb of ram the other day installed it then ran the windows experience and my cpu score dropped from 7 to 6.5 and my memory score dropped from 7.2 to 7.1.. i took the ram out and it made no difference. i have installed quite a few games since i my last run. has anyone else experienced this? should i be concerned? should i do a reinstall?

i've noticed a bit of randomness as well, and I've not made any changes. A week ago my HD was rated at 7.7 and my GPU at 7.0. Yesterday I went to show a friend my score and my HD was at 7.8 and my GPU was at 6.9.

So I'm really not sure how this experience rating works.

just ran 3d mark 06 and my cpu score was 3076 and now its 2268. i guess windows experience score are somewhat accurate. have no idea why my score dropped so much. i think ill just do a reinstall and see how that goes.. what a pain in the backside! from now on everytime i install something im going to run a benchmark.

just did a reinstall with drivers and ssd tweaks and the numbers are back up. 7.0 for CPU, 7.5 for memory, 7.2 graphics and 7.3 for SSD.

one thing i didnt noticed now is that im now seeing 8 cores in the task manager and boot up options, before only 4. have no idea why.

Random results and hiccups are all part of the Windows Experience. :D

5.9 is the max for hard drives. Anything above is reserved for SSD's if I remember correctly. Also yes, random numbers are pretty much a given with the Windows Experience Index. I find that it depends on the state of your stuff at the time of doing it so yeah. Sometimes I get one point higher, sometimes lower, but the general range is pretty much the same.

I never knew that about the 5.9 and hard drives. I always wondered why my Velociraptors on my desktop never got any higher.

    Me too.

I love the 10000RPM Velociraptor. Have you tried the Caviar Black series? Very fast for a 7200RPM drive.

A Velociraptor system drive and a Caviar Black data/source code drive is my desktop dev machine...fastest I could get it without SSDs! :)
