Anyone have this and fix it. I search around and it only happens like once a week. It locks up my computer for like 2 minutes with the hdd light staying solid. Any thoughts.....

Hmmm have you run any programs to check up on the hdd and/or something software/malware related?
Id run the chkdsk utility, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Active Hard Disk Monitor -
running chkdsk now, i have no virus or malware problems
-
perhaps the hd is trying to stand by or something?
I'd check the power settings.. advanced tab.. -
did the full chkdsk on both my hdd's
I have a C300 128GB SSD and ST9500420AS 500GB HDD
Im running in high performance but will check power settings now.
Ok in high performance it says turn off hard disk.
20 mintues on battery and 20 mintues on plugged in
Could this be doing it?????
EDIT
My system disk shows up as my second hdd is that correct???? -
Hi antisniperspy
I would change the 'turn off hard disk' to never if I were you. Especially for de SSD. SSD controllers need or use the idle time to do their maintenance on the 'used nand' (garbage collection, trim). But you could check the Crucial forums for that. For a 'sandforce drive' like mine it definitely should be set to 'never'.
Yours digitally -
Thanks i set it to never and will see if It ever comes back. Thank you for all your guys help. Anyone know why my system disk shows as my backup sdd??
-
It looks to me that your Seagate momentus is your system disk.
-
-
lol aye, that is weird. What does your windows Disk management show ??
Mine looks like this:

Well after almost two months I happened again after a statup and went to open IE and it locked up for about a minute. When I checked the logs it was the same error. Any ideas, I looked up the firmware version I have it is
IDE\DiskST9500420AS_____________________________0002SDM1
IDE\ST9500420AS_____________________________0002SDM1
IDE\DiskST9500420AS_____________________________
ST9500420AS_____________________________0002SDM1
EDIT - Could this be my problem Problem ????? -
I noticed my transfer rates improved after updating to v5 so I would go for it
-
I just updated and speed increase was about 10mb/s. Data seems to transfer between ssd and itself a little faster and noise is the same. I guess we will see if it happens in another 2 months.
-
which antivirus program do u run?
-
Could you give a little more details about which firmware you updated, where, what?
Thanks! -
rappa - I run microsoft security essentials all uup to date.
jeprira - Fireware is in the link I posted in #13 -
Just had it happen two more times over the past week. It seems to happen randomly when I open up a brand new instance of Internet Explorer. Anyone else have any ideas. This is the only problem I have with this computer and I can usally figure out anything with computers.
EDIT wow this is really frustrating as it has happened twice in the past three hours. -
