I wish to restore my operating system on my G73sw from a system image i created of all drives/partitions using the windows 7 backup.
What i would like to know is if anybody can tell me if the asus factory recovery partition would be deleted if i did restore from a system image backup.
I have used the operating system as it came from the box with all the bloatware (before anybody tells me of benefits of clean install) and not had any problems and i have not changed any of the drive partitions.
I would be more secure if i know that the recovery partition will stay in place as it is a more convenient way of restoring to straight outta the box and i would hate to loose it.

No, that thing is set in stone and can only be deleted if you actually choose to delete it either by doing so during a custom installation of Windows or by going into the Hard drive managment facility and tweaking a few things to allow you to format it. It is labeled quite clearly System Partition during a custom installation so as long as you dont format it you are fine.
When you create a hidden partition it does exactly what it says on the tin and even has its own drive letter. -
If you can get your hands on an OEM version of Windows 7 that is the best way to do a clean install. I always use a disc and delete the recovery partition. That may not work for you.

The OP specifically stated that he didn't want to do a clean install....

That's why I said it may not work for him. It doesn't do you any good to have your OS on a separate partition if the hard drive crashes then your SOL. It is not an ideal way to store your OS. That's the point I'm trying to get across and it gets the bloatware off. It's a good idea to have a Windows 7 disc so you're not left high and dry.
