Hello, i've searched the forums and can't find a similar thread so i hope this hasn't been covered, and if so i apologise.
I done a full clean install of Windows 7 (as per the guide on here), installed the drivers and utilities etc from the Asus Support pages for my G73JH-A1, installed the Wireless XBOX Software from the disc that came with the controller, plugged in, tried to sync them whilst loading FIFA, and i cannot get the controller to be recognised. I realise this is probably something really simple, but i have no idea what. Any help appreciated as always.

Don't use the drivers that are on the disc. Uninstall them, then download the software straight from Microsoft. Install it first, then plug in the wireless receiver. Let the install wizard do its thing, then you should be able to sync the controller.

I uninstalled the software from the disc a few times now and done just as you say, however it still doesnt sync
Could it be that i did not install the drivers from the Asus Support page in any particular order? -
I'd really appreciate any more help on this. I've done ANOTHER clean install, following ASUS's guide for re-installing the drivers onto the laptop. I have two hard drives split over 4 partitions. My OS is on an SSD and is not partitioned. This is where the xbox software automatically downloads to (i cannot change this). My games however are on another INternal HDD Partition. Anyways, i still cannot sync my wireless controller to my dongle reciever as i used to before i installed and switched to mySSD.
I have been on this problem for almost 6 hours now so would appreciate any more help. I have gone around in circles trying to contact microsoft support and is just proving impossible.
EDIT: FYI, the wireless donge reciever DOES show up in Devices and Printers, however an exclamation mark appears next to it (obviously showing an issue). I right click to troubleshoot, it says device driver is missing (even though the driver has been installed and downloaded via microsofts site - 64Bit Windows 7 Compatible), it then searches for online drivers nad just comes back without any joy. I am stuck, and i have the drivers :S -
Can you be clearer please. Do you mean that gamepad wont connect to wirelles dongle at all or it wont be recognised by game? If second then check if your game support xbox 360 gamepad.

Yes the game is compatible - FIFA11. I played it constantly before on my old HDD.
Sorry for not being clear. I mean i cannot sync my controller to my dongle by pressing the sync buttons. Also, my laptop doesn't even recognise the wireless dongle (hence i cannot sync) as it tells me i do not have drivers for the dongle, which i do. Cheers for your help! -
Does dongle light when you plug it in your laptop? If not then it is something hardware based with dongle. If yes then maybe its some conflict with other software on your pc. Remember long time ago when i bought my razer mamba it wouldnt install driver for charging dock and in the end it was some conflict with some asus software that comes preinstalled on laptop.
