Ok, This is an odd problem i have never encountered in my years working on pcs so i came here to see if you guys can help.

    g73jh
    80gig ssd - Primary
    500gig standard - Secondary

Only thing added was the SSD. When I try to get into bios or even where i want to boot from it puts me in the windows boot manager screen, not the bios or boot option menu when ESC or F2 are pressed. Please anyone know how to fix this.

Try pressing the Delete key, I beleive that should put you to BIOS, I know on mine ESC gives me a pop up and F2 I forget what it does. But on any Asus MoBo or Laptop I've used the delete key goes to BIOS. (please note, not the backspace key but the actual delete key)

I think it is windows causing the problem but i cant get into the bios to change boot devices to see. tried reseting the bios it didn't help. I will try taking the ssd out and see, will pst back with what it comes up with.

Windows, by definition, won't interfere with the basic input output system... the bios loads in order to start windows up.

Try the reset button on the bottom of teh computer.

I think you're just doing it wrong. When are you trying to press the button to get into BIOS?

Immediately hit F2 after you press the power button and the screen turns on. You should get to the BIOS setup.

Also about your bootmgr problem swap the drives around in the bays.

What is the best wait to flash the bios to the new version?

You're pressing just F2, right? Not Fn+F2? There's no need for function lock or the Fn+F2 combo with the way ASUS keyboards are set up, just F2.

Try hitting it a couple of times, this is really straightforward. Sometimes you can miss it or be too early, so just tap F2 a few times when you see the screen light up and within a few seconds you should be in the setup utility.

If that doesn't work maybe your F2 key is broken, you could try an external keyboard.

I have done everything everyone has said and nothing has happened. Time to contact Asus

Ok now trying to use winflash to update bios and yeah giving me the error "The current BIOS cannot recognize the BIOS ROM type." It is not my day...

This is the way i am gonna have to flash the bios.

First i follow the guide at asusrog.comto create a win98 bootable flash drive and dropped AFLASH onto it with the 211 bios update. once this is done i have to remove both HDDs and flash the bios.

HOPEFULY it works and doesn't give a over-sized paperweight.

Ok, followed the instructions... that didn't work... im out of thoughts.

Have you tried with just the SSD in and HDD out? (as someone else suggested you made sure you removed windows from the HDD correct?)
