but i can tell you this...kind of wish they would fix the scaling issue between display settings. like if i want to run a 1280x1024 screen. and make it full screen and not black borders around the whole picture.

Awesome man, you won't be disappointed. The only thing is, if you weren't having problems before, you won't have them now. So.. basically. You will feel the same lol.

You can change the scaling options in the Screen Properties in CCC.

no matter wht features i select in CCC it does not improve the game visuals?

is that so ..i know i am missing something otherwise those features wont be in ccc.

can some one help me on this?

Don't you guys get screen distortion sometimes with ati 10.10 driver? I am using 10.8 without a problem, but with 10.10 I get a distorted screen upon waking up my laptop from sleep. The same thing if I turn off just the screen and turn it back on, or after the screen saver stops. The screen gets weird, like when you turned color from 32bit to 16bit in the old days, something like that.

I tried to reinstall, used driver sweeper but it seems to happen all the time. Is it just me?

Yep I get that too. Both on 10.10c, and 10.10d.

When that happens, I go in to CCC, change to 16bit, revert to 32bit, and everything looks normal again.

    Annoying.

Hi Guys, is this 10.10c driver better than the 10.10 that comes from the AMD website? When I bench them i notice very little difference in performance. The 10.10 that comes from AMD website does not have hydra vision. How do we use hydravision on this laptop anyway if we only have one HDMI port?

First, 30 seconds of google search could have answered all your questions. Really, this is just being extremely lazy since these questions are readily available with just a few seconds of search and nothing more. I'll explain since I'm feeling a little nice right now.

The 10.10C is not official from AMD, it's a modded desktop driver for mobility use. So if you want guaranteed stability, use the 10.10 WHQL from the AMD website.

The 10.10C has the Morphological AA which is Anti-Aliasing post processing. So it uses an algorithm post processing to clean up the edges, it's all done on the DX11 Shader 5.0. This means if you take screenshot, can't capture it normally, since when you screenshot an image it will record the actual image, not the image that has had post-processing done.

The 10.10C also has a new Catalyst AI. This new setting has 3 settings. Performance will have most optimizations. The Quality settings is a little more optimized than the previous Standard setting. And High Quality is no optimizations, best image possible. Recommended Quality for stock clock speeds, and can try High Quality if you overclocked.

The other feature is the Surface Format Optimization. This is something that has to do with FP16 Demotion. This means that normally for HDR rendering 64 bit is used. 16 bit per color, Red, Green, Blue and Alpha (16 bit*4=64). But sometimes the for games where AMD has found that demoting that to 32 bit will improve performance significantly without visual loss, they use FP16 demotion (11 bit+11 bit+10 bit, no Alpha=32). If you don't believe AMD, then disable the Optimization and it won't demote any longer. Long story short, it's a good optimization but something Nvidia will pick on even though in their own statements they support it. It's only in the marketing BS they are upset, but technicially they aren't. The Nvidia you know is the money hungry, marketing machine group of jerks who care nothing but about their own salary it seems. Do whatever it takes to line their own pockets and their "investors" who in reality probably couldn't care less about FP16 optimization.

Lastly Hydravision is about modifying your DESKTOP, is only related to multiple monitors if you have them. This allows you to create perfect split screen or quad screen format on your screen with 2-4 application windows. Also allows you to have multiple DESKTOPS. So say you are working on Photoshop with lots of stuff on one desktop. Then on another virtual desktop you have Adobe Premier and After Effects running. This is to keep your work separate yet you can quickly switch back and forth. Hydravision can be applied to your additional monitors but they are not required, necessary and really don't have much to do with what Hydravision is.

I have not been able to get the CCC working correctly. There is only hydravision available as an option under graphics.. I have no graphics or harwdare properties available under CCC.

I used this 10.10c install package

I got an error that the gpu was not supported on the AMD install.

So it happens also on the official WHQL drivers?

I'm the desktop mobility modded 10.10e drivers now, and while I benched Vantage with no loss in performance, no GSODs in games, the 16/32 bit bug is still there.

Disabling Surface Optimization does not fix it though.

    I installed 10.10e and I can't enter catalyst anymore. I unistalled and I installed 10.10c - same problem.
I did proper uninstallations (driver sweeper - safe mode etc)
Can't figure out what the problem is.

I tried for about 3 hours to make it work, but it just wouldnt. Tried about 6 different versions. Nothing works now. When I try to enter Catalyst nothing happens. If I have the task manager open I can see that the CCC process opens for 2 seconds and closes again :|
    This is getting incredibly frustrating

    1. uinstall ATI drivers express
    2. startup safemode by hitting F8 during startup
    3. Download and run drivers sweeper (google it, should be under guru3d site) select ATI and clean....
    4. restart into normal windows and install ATI package...

I would just stick with stock 10.10 from ati website.... For some reason the C, D, & E versions give me weird tearing/artifacts when playing StarCraft 2 sometimes.... Most noticeable in "media blitz" mission when using thors cannons..... Notice the tearing where the cannons effect ripple on the ground... Anyone else experience this? You have to try the Media Blitz mission or use Thors cannon to see it.... Bugs me...

Going into safemode is a hassle and Driver Sweeper blows, it's useless and doesn't do anything.

Here is TWL's ATi cleaner and installer. All you do is place the drivers in the Driver folder. So when you unzip the driver, unzip in the Driver folder or when the official drivers extract, extract it into the Driver folder.

Run the ATi crap cleaner and just follow directions. It will clean up everything and install all in one step. Best of all, you don't need to go into safe mode.

I've got a problem with my temps.

I've got the G73jh and I can't even up the Mhz on the gpu by 30 without the system turning off due to high temps. Is there a way to know if my GPU is any good. It looks like i've got the worst Luck as far as OCing is concerned. The highest at stock with 10.10d drivers is 8300 in 3dMark06 and 6582 in Vantage3dmark. What are your setting and it there a definite way to know if my laptop is ready for RMA?

Anyway the worst is yet to come. I tried these and now and when I reboot it went into startup recovery (windows is attempting to fix you startup files). Then a message that it failed and go stuck (windows blue background with only cursor) and when I retarted with control alt delete the laptop won't restart anymore. It attempts but shuts of in 1 second. I purchase this on Ebay from a buyer who sent it with receipt (purchase Feb 2010) so it's still under a year. He never registered with asus so do I just register and RMA. Will they ask for orginal owners reciept or should I make my own reciept up?

ASUS will be able to tell from the serial when your machine was made if you haven't registered it or don't have the receipt. Why don't you try going into safe mode and try fixing it yourself? Hit F8 a bunch of times when windows starts booting and you will get the boot options screen where you can select safe mode.

Do not think any mobile GPU is made by AMD with the purpose of overclocking. It's just luck of the draw. The GPU stock is at 700/1000 for a reason. All you can really do is just monitor your temps, redo your thermals if you want, if still cant OC much, just out of luck. Asus won't replace your GPU just because you can't OC.
