World of Tanks on the G73JH

Couldn't resist posting a cheeky WoT on the JH post and uploading a movie to try and coax some of you into the game. Firstly its free to download and play and you never have to pay a penny, the only time you buy gold to spend is for premium account which means double coins, double experience nice shiny garage and for accessories for your tank etc.

The graphics are very good and there are plenty of settings to spice things up im playing maxed out ultra settings on my JH 900P and I get on average 50-90fps. (The movie below is recorded using FRAPS which switches to 30FPS)

The Game - Its awesome. I have been looking for an MMO for years since I left WoW but I needed something worthy of the grind that I could put down and not have to play around the clock to achieve at. This game is perfect because you can do just that.

You have 3 different countries to choose from USSR, USA, Germany and it is set around Tanks produced before and during the 2nd World War. You have a variety of Small tanks, medium tanks, Heavy tanks, Artillery and Tank Destroyers. You start with a tank from each country for free and you go into battle and fight in random battles to try and destroy all of the enemy tanks or to capture the flag (their base) when you get to a higher tier you can also join tank companies and there is like every MMO General chat and LFG etc but you dont have to use these you can just use Random battles for personal gain.

You gain experience and coins which varies depending on how well you do and if you win, first win of the day is double everything. You do not gain from killing specifically you gain from Critical hits, most damage done and working as a team to win...etc. You lose points for TKing but honestly I have seen hardly any idiots in game no one TK's and looking at polls the majority of people who play are adults and there are a lot of countries that play.

The realism is very well done considering the game requirements are quite low it performs very well and is a lot of fun to play. I have no interest in tanks and hate games like Modern Warfare Online in which you can just camp and kill people. This game requires tactics and relies on your ability to know what your vehicles can and can't do.

The biggest gun means nothing for instance when your tank is faster at turning than the turret of the bigger gun

I think I have told you enough so far this is my main game at the moment and I give it a 9/10 overall because it hits the spot for me and is pretty tricky at time especially when you reach the higher tiers.

Here is a movie of my KV-3 Russian Heavy Tank Tier 6 and I entered a battle with a ton of seriously high Tiers 8-10. I manage to steal a kill but then get annihilated by the Tier X Beast IS-7 USSR tank run in 720P as the movie is edited for size.

I carried on recording near the end so you could see a fight off between the two Tier X's the German E-100 (my favorite! and the tank I am working hard to get) and the IS-7. The E-100 owns of course

I think I'll try it out. I've been looking for an MMO and I'm not really interested in WoW. The whole, "It's free" thing helps out too.

 

I've been interested in this for a while, and have always loved tank sims... I'll give it a shot after watching your video and reading your post.

 

I started with the beta test. And can say that this game has come a long way. Look nice and is great to play. Not like wow were you have to play dungeons or raids for along time.

To bad they removed the beta tanks But now i am mostly playing on the russian TD tech tree. At the moment my main is a SU-100. 10k more and get next tank.

One thing I will say is be careful when you are shooting. The only bad thing I have found was today because you can crash into people and you get fined coins for it, same for hitting an ally etc. Some plank on my team drove straight past me as I unleashed a 122mm explosive shell and I blew him to smithers.

Got banned for 24 hours. Not happy seems there is an autobanning system for team killing, which is fine unless its an accident haha!

@DH48 yes mate, I was only 4k away from getting my IS-3 today cannot beleive it and back to work tommorow so now have to wait to get it. boooo.

Agreed as well its nothing like most MMO in that there is still the grind to get what you want but its an enjoyable grind and you dont have to play for hours on end a couple of games here and there and because you can train 5 or more tanks at a time and the battles last only from say 5-20 mins if that sometimes.

Great game apart from the banning thing I contacted support and they said it happens a lot but they have to put their foot down to TKing and this is the only way but it seems pretty random to me I have accidently hit people before its so easily done and people just crash straight into you. Livid!

 

So for some reason every tanks is invisible except mine. Anybody else getting this?
@Dallers: Do you play this with the graphics maxed out. If so whats your framerate?

Have you set manuali AA in CCC? if so set it so that the game will set it itself. I had the same problem. all other thanks will not show up with the red and green line.


Hmm i was looking at the video and Dallers you do a lot of shooting 3rd person view. The best aiming is done inside the tank with the scope + you can aim for weak spots on other tanks.

Also if you do not mind ill add you to my friends list.

On the 1080 screen its runs maxed from 30-50 FPS.

On think i hate is the damage done by driving into other tanks. The beta had only trak damage. I have got killed by higher tire tanks just by ramming me.

First time i hear about the banning thing. Been playing almost for a year...most of it was beta.....aaa the good old days lol you got 250 gold as pay for every day. Also do not use the autoaim....thats a big no-no. If you use auto aim it will aim in the center and if a tank is half hiden you will not hit it. Auto aim is bad for moving targets too as you need to aim in front of it not at it.

But it is a realy good game still evolving.

 

Turn off Triple Buffering fella. As mentioned above maxed out 900p around 50-90fps but it varies from map to map some drop me to 40fps.

That was for the movie to show the different features. This bloke must have been doing 50kph it was a flash and boom! dead. haha! Go read bout the banning thing its totally random only been brough in the last few weeks and results automatically from accident TK's as well as ones on purpose. Ban will be lifted when I get home so I can get my IS! woop!

 

Im back got 6k XP to go till I own the beast!

Another thing I forgot to mention as well but it didn't happen to me I just got autobanned you can also turn blue, your tank, name and picture turns blue and it shows others you are a team killer. It happens only if you kill a ton of people though and it means that you can just kill that person without punishment as they count as an enemy.

^^its interesting you mention that about TKing, in my limited experience from playing tonight, every other game has a TKer easily. Maybe its just the games with lower level/tier tanks/players though.

Currently with the T2 and BT-2 lol the higher tanks cost so much

 

Yeah it accrues apparantly just been reading about it my 1 TK was leading on from an overall total of damage dealt out. Thing is the thing I have played 1000 games already (scary) and every now and then one of your shots will clip a friendly or you will crash into someone who just breaks in front of you. There are several different levels of banning and mine was the lesser and after 5 games of no friendly damage it resets

Yeah the higher tanks seem daunting but in my KV and KV-3 Tier 5 and 6 you make 30k easy each game and can rack 1k xp each game just by dishing out some serious damage with a gun that can hit 500-600 points a time. Tank Destroyers dish it out also so do artillery but I cant stand Arty its boring. Take a path that leads to at least one Tier X if you can.

 

30k each game? lol Id hope so, otherwise it would take too long for any of the higher tiers. German tanks are the only ones I havent used yet, Im assuming you need to play as all three factions beginning light tanks to advance their respective tech trees?

As for it on my G73 35-60fps maxed @1080p except AA and Shadows.

 

Yes but the first tanks like the trackor haha you level up within like 3 games because the first game of your new tank that day is a daily doubling your XP and coins. Yep once you get to the higher tiers in the heavy tanks you need 20-30k a game because your tanks repairs can be 10k a time and Shells I am using in my IS are 1k a shot

It plays excellent doesn't it, really want to get it on a 1080p screen once my card is paid off might have to do it. I just find enchanced Physics is the only thing that burns my frames. I am not keen on German tanks, but really really want the E-100 it looks awesome. German tanks are some of the best higher tiers though.

 

Dang, what shells are you firing?? lol and I am not seeing this double xp (nor coins??) either.

EDIT: Also, does the game tend to just sit on one core at times, for you guys?? Not all of the time, but most of the time I glance over at my second screen and see my first core being used at almost 100% constantly.

 

Every first game of the day that you victory or if you buy a new tank the first victory will be double XP and Coins. If you pay for premium you also get +50% XP + Coins for every game including the daily double. Along with a sexy garage Get me

Top notch this game mate same feeling for me when I first discovered WoW a year after its release kept putting it off and then once you get into it, top dollar!

Best thing about it is you can play a couple of games, go away do summit and then get the pull again to play more haha if you lose & get annoyed, an hour later..WOT!

 

Damn russian tank drivers. I think my crew is running on vodka or might just be my bad luck. Been having a losing streak aiming is off. Some days i only get critical hits now ....well just the surrounding area of the enamy


I think the bonus system has a bug as i have had the star in the tank for more then 1 win. Sometimes first game and the tank does not get anymore bonus but sometimes it stays for 2-3 battles. ...strange


Now im way back 20k to got :/ bought a better engine and a radio. A massive 20HP extra and 1 km/h faster lol ....radio is good . Will have to play more to get my VII TD.

Seriously though, how is the matchmaking done!? Lol I have one of the worst Tier 2 or 3 Medium tanks in the game, and I go in and get demolished by TD's HT's and other vehicles Ive seen go up to Tier 7 one shot dead every time ahaha I can even sneak up on them, and even from the back, my shots will ricochet

CrappyAlloy i have seen a tier 1 with my tier 6 tank in a battle.

 

Its a tough life to begin with. I found the M2 Medium Tank full upgraded with a Howitzer is the best. You get entered into low tier battles and can one shot people with the explosive rounds.

Did I was in such a rush forgot to remove them from my vehicle.

 

I have exactly that, but 80% of the time I am getting entered into battles with IV Panzers, and T1 heavies that I cant do anything against.

Worse still, I have an A-20 (so I can get to the medium//heavy tanks) thats one tier higher, but is has even less firepower as the M2, same as the BT-2/BT-7, but its up against Tigers and KV's -__-

I also havent been able to retain any of my crews; are all of these things you two are discussing paid-for?

 

CrappyAlloy aim for fuel tanks and the rear of stronger tanks. That ususaly helps


No the retraining and keeping the old crew is a non paid option you just need to remove them from the tank before you sell it and then retrain them in the new tank.

To remove from tank left click on any crew member and "send to barracks"

same way add to new tank

To retrain right click on a crew member and then "training" tab ....then just find the new tank from the list and retrain

 

Wow, wish I had known that sooner, I had my BT-2 Crew up to like 90% lol

And about where to shoot lol just last night, with my A-20, I snuck up behind a Panzer IV and was able to put 5 shots into its rear end before it had time to turn around, got it down to 80% from 100%, he takes one shot, Im at 100%, and I go up in flames lol I am almost willing to pay just to get past this tier.

Also, to retain crew, im guessing it has to stay within the same nation correct?

 

Any tank ANY TANK! Just not the A-20 LOL it is an awful tank

Go down the USA Medium Tank route M2 onto Sherman I found that good fun. The T1 Heavy is too ugly to even consider. I also would rather have a more powerful weapon that takes longer to reload rather than a quick firing high penetration gun.

I also went down the USSR Route to KV which is a good one. Slow heavy and powerful.

Anything but the A-20 haha.

 

But I have to go through the A-20 to get the T34 LOL and the Lee for the Sherman

 

The Lee is like a wounded animal cannot stand a cannon without a turret, that is why I dont like Tank Destroyers. Keeping my Wolverine as an Elite.

Ditch that route mate and start a new one. T34 is ok but there is better and getting XP with an A-20 is a lost cause.

 

Ugh, not what I wanted to read, 192000 credits down the drain so what your saying is, both of my routes are nothing but "Crappy" alloy aha

 

Mate I have lost around 2 million credits lol I have been through nearly every tree and ended up with just one tank from each country haha!

When selling the tank you get back around 60-70% of its worth and dont forgot the massive point that each time you upgrade a module the old module and old shells go into your DEPOT.

I did not know this for over a month and went into find a stash of gear I sold for near 500k lol

Trial and Error friend trying out what works for you is the fun of it!

 

Only the modules you can remove are in the depot. Other are sold with the tank as they stick to it.

 

Exactly consider this. I decided to get a lot of gold and try out nearly every tank upgrading as I went and opening up all of the tree routes. Around 30 tanks going back and forward between them selling and buying and finally I stick with the 3 I like.

I had 100+ modules and ton of shells sitting there idle in my DEPOT it was like christmas
