Long story short, I'm on a quest to find the best laptop for my needs and what are my needs exactly.... I'm not sure. I'm one of those consumers.
Anyway I went from the Asus G750JM, to Lenovo Y50, to MSI GS60-003. All with GTX860m, but if I'm not mistaken the Asus and Lenovo are the only one with Maxwell cards.
I need advice, I'm trying to decide if I wanna keep my MSI GS60 for it's good looks, portability, amazing screen, and decent gaming capabilities. However the other part of me wants the Asus for it's cooling, slightly better gaming, upgradablilty, and silence.
So here's my dilemma? I love the screen and keyboard of the MSI, which are top priorities for me, looks matter next and lastly portability. The screen on the Asus isn't as good and the size and looks of the Asus isn't that great either, but then I got to thinking; I won't really be moving it that much so it's not that bad. I'll move it from the desk to the living room, to the kitchen table and perhaps to my basement. So portability isn't that bad.
Okay the point is, after some digging I discovered the Asus G750JM can be modified on Xotic PC with a glossy screen. Is this IPS? I also noticed I can add a copper heat sink, diamond thermal compound, 128 SSD, and 1TB 7200 HDD for the exact same price as I paid for the MSI. Then I said, screw it, I'll upgrade the storage later and just get some over clocking and the price is less than that of the MSI.
Sooooo....... if you were in my shoes would you just keep your MSI GS60-003 or get a modded G750?

Hi vahdyx,
Sager also does make Maxwell cards, the 2GB versions of the GTX 860M are, the 4GB are Kepler.
So it sounds like you are not moving around much and the larger Asus would fit your habits well. The keyboard is the same chiclet type on both models, but Asus does not have the color customizations that MSI includes. They will feel very similar to each other when you're typing.
The upgraded screens we offer are TN panels, we dont have any IPS available at this time.
Since you already have the GS60 and it sounds like you're pretty happy with it, I would keep it. The G750 does have its benefits but I dont think its much you'll actually see any real world difference. You already have a mSATA drive in the MSI so upgrading the Asus to SSD wont feel any different.vahdyx likes this. -

The maxwell can get to 870M mild OC levels if you give it a lot of tweaking love.
