Perhaps I'm wrong here, but the ASUS G53SW 2630QM CPU is not listed on the above website. As such why is ASUS recalling it?
I know it makes sense that it should be effected i.e. any motherboard with Sandy Bridge technology but...
Perhaps I'm just annoyed as I was supposed to get mine this week!

Just curious. Here I was so impressed how fast Asus got them out, and then it turns out Intel goofed on the chipset.
Has Asus given any indication about this? Do we have any way of knowing if a model contains a fixed chipset? I mean I guess they don't exist yet, but when they do, how will we know? -
That's the asus response. Since it only affects sata ports after port 2, laptops should be fine ANYWAYS, unless they've got esata.
You may want to hold off getting a Sandy Bridge or at least get the right chipset
