You may want to hold off getting a Sandy Bridge or at least get the right chipset

Perhaps I'm wrong here, but the ASUS G53SW 2630QM CPU is not listed on the above website. As such why is ASUS recalling it?

I know it makes sense that it should be effected i.e. any motherboard with Sandy Bridge technology but...

Perhaps I'm just annoyed as I was supposed to get mine this week!

All "Cougar Point" based systems are affected. This list includes just examples. Big irritation. Thx Intel.

That's because Asus haven't start mass production/shpping G53SW so it's not listed, the only G53SW are affected is probably only the sample units.

Just curious. Here I was so impressed how fast Asus got them out, and then it turns out Intel goofed on the chipset.

Has Asus given any indication about this? Do we have any way of knowing if a model contains a fixed chipset? I mean I guess they don't exist yet, but when they do, how will we know?

That's the asus response. Since it only affects sata ports after port 2, laptops should be fine ANYWAYS, unless they've got esata.
