ASUS has not mentioned anything new, as they have released a new lineup to reflect the updates in the i7 processors. I wouldn't expect to see new models for the next couple of months, although I have been wrong before. :)

It is unlikely that we will see an AMD version anytime soon (not impossible, of course) as they have put most of their focus to NVidia cards in their gaming machines.

I've heard there's a platform reset. Any ideas what sort of hardware will be coming?

I've seen the latest new model roadmap and don't see anything new all the way to March 2012.

It is all well and true waiting for the Ivy bridge but as GentechPc mentions it wont be in models until March and will come with a hefty price tag, it is much better to wait long past the initial models and problems for the updated and performance seeking models released later on.

Also in regards to the new GPU's we may also be quite disappointed with the initial releases and looking at the rumours about the HD 7900M the top end card it is not going to compete with the Nvidia releases and if it wasn't for the smaller die meaning less heat and power consumption it may not be worthy waiting.

The latest Sandy Bridge models and a 6990M/580M are all you need for high end laptop gaming and you can easily see yourself through into 2013 when the better deals will be on the market.

With Asus the price is low so it allows you to upgrade more frequently one of the things I used to love about Asus I would get bored very easily and want to change my setup as the GPU dates quickly this was always an option. Asus wont go high end because they did not see the results they wanted when they tried and do see them from building a well made and cool performing mid range model for a reasonable price. Its all about profit!
