As soon as I plug in AC adapter lights come on immediately - power light and 3 lights on top left of keyboard turn on. No bios access, no light on screen. Fans and HDD do not spin up.
What happened in the days leading up:
-flashed vBios 4 days ago
-changed from MBR to UEFI, did fresh install of Windows 7
-replaced CMOS battery
-laptop battery doesn't hold charge (6%). Been like this for a while.
Within a couple days I had 2 BSOD's and had to boot twice each time to get into Windows. Could still get into Bios but noticed things had reset to default. UEFI was disabled and I re-enabled.
Now I have a completely dead black screen. Have tried numerous recovery methods found via Internet search, none successful (listed on my next post). I'm thinking at this point its down to an ISP flash of the vbios or BIOS.

just do a full dissasembly and assemble it again. I doubt BIOS is dead.

1. Carefully tore down laptop using anti-static ground strap. Cleaned out fans and chassis dust. carefully re-assembled checking all cable connections, installed new CMOS battery. Installed all RAM modules and both HDD's. Does not boot; black screen no light nothing. The keyboard lights flash once, then there is a delay, then flash again. This has to be an error code of some kind, but I cannot find any info on this??
2. removed CMOS battery, removed laptop battery, removed AC power. Held laptop power button down for 1 minute. replaced AC power . Does not boot; black screen with no light, no Bios access.
3. removed both HDD's. removed AC power. No CMOS battery. Held laptop power button down for 1 minute. replaced AC power . Does not boot; black screen with no light, no Bios access.
4. removed all but 1 stick ram, no HDD's. removed AC power. No CMOS battery. Held laptop power button down for 1 minute. replaced AC power . Does not boot; black screen with no light, no Bios access.
5. Carefully tore down laptop using anti-static ground strap to get to reset button underneath laptop. button is near card reader. CMOS battery still removed. No laptop battery, no AC power. Held down black reset button for 30 seconds. Plugged in HDD, 1 stick ram and AC power. Fans turned on, HDD spin up. Does not boot; black screen with no light, no Bios access.
Of course, a bootable recovery USB does me no good, as I have black screen.
I should mention that before I flashed the vBios and changed the CMOS battery, the laptop was working as expected. No BSOD, temps were low and being monitored. My laptop battery has been dead for a while, holds almost no charge. I've had to use AC power.Last edited: Dec 17, 2018 -

I noticed my keyboard gives what looks like an error code when I power on. Flashes once, delay, then flashes again. Any significance to that? There are no beeps but it seems like an error code to me.Last edited: Dec 17, 2018
