you can always check your GPU Temp's, if their over 100"C that is too much for the computer, if it hits near 115"C , your computer will turn itself off to prevent damage. Happened a lot on my desktop. Cleaning dust does help, however it could be a poor repaste problem issue involving the heatsink. At least from what the pro's told me here. Can get the repasting done at a authorized ASUS service provider depot in your town/city.

    1. Get HWinfo
    2. Start Temp monitor
    3. Play an intensive game like SC2 or GTA IV or Crysis
    4. Check temps after every 5 mins
    5. If your temps rise above 100C for MemIO and Thermal Diode, your unit has poor thermal paste. Repasting is your only option.

    Goodluck!

You can enter the BIOS for hours to see if the laptop turns off by itself or not. if the laptop does turn off, it means that the temperature of your laptop is too high. While if your laptop does turn off, it may be the problem of your OS, and you might have to reinstall it.

    Goodluck!

Please do some research before trying to help others. While it is admirable that you are trying to help, (giving them misguided advice will only lead to further hurdles), the automatic shutdown on the G73 has nothing to do with the operating system what so ever.

    Thank you.

Shutdown and restart may be caused by software and hardware, what I can do to help him by words is to use exclusive method

What are you doing when the system is shutting down? Is it happening when idle, or happening when you are gaming?

You can also hit my 3rd sig link to download AMD GPU Tool for HD5870 and can enable hardware temp sensors, or use GPU-Z and monitor the Sensor tab. (plz enable background monitoring)

    thanks a lot all!
as hasib1522 adviced me i got HWinfo and noticed gpu temp. was too high, so made a few tries.
disabled gpower4 and all was ok, no more shut down, but a pity to run games in that way, i mean all was a lot slower... and with this great notebook is a shame!
so i bought and external fun and all seems working great since a week, so i hope all is over.
thanks again all for kind advices :)
