The title says it all, which one should i choose?

I know that the best thermal paste so far is mx-4 but if you think that thermal pads are better which one would you advise me?

It depends what you are referring to?

If you are talking about the DIE a thermal pad will not do as compound spreads out thinly and allows contact to the heatsink even if the surface is uneven and the conductivity of a thermal pad unless it is a very high performance one would not be able to cool it sufficiently.

If you are talking about VRAM either will do depending on the gap, as long as it is not more than .5mm a thick TIM like ICD or similiar will do the job but thermal pads are not only cheaper and less messy they do the job just as well.

i'm talking about taking out the g51j gpu and cpu's thermal pads and replacing them or another one that's better or by a thermal paste
