So I just bought a refurbished g51 and of course the temperatures are high, i was expecting that. The problem is even though the gpu doesn't downclock while at 105c my 3dmark06 score is only 7,200. I have gpu-z running while 3dmark06 is and the card isn't downclocking I'm also using dox 195.62 drivers.

It may not be downclocking visibly, but you could be getting some stuttering/throttling at that temp (I think it's 105 where it does it!) that doesn't appear on GPU-Z.

Try taking the bottom off, and sitting the g51 on top of a fan (or notebook cooler) or something else to see if you get the same score with some extreme cooling - because I"m pretty sure it's 105 where you get throttling.

OK somethings wrong, reapplied thermal paste and left cover off, temps only dropped 5c, but scores went up to 8k. Guess I'll try a better monitoring tool.

Shipping it back, somethings wrong with the heatpipes, started monitoring the CPU and its the one that's downclocking not the gpu.
