Hello everyone, as the title said half my keyboard id non responsive. I tried searching for keyboard problems, but the searches all returned old threads on the keyboard missing keystrokes.

My Problem is various buttons on the keyboard itself stopped functioning.

The left Ctrl key, C, O, Q, A, D, M and a few others (the LED light keys and vol up / vol down). The rest of the keys work fine. As you can see the keys that do not work are all over the keyboard and not limited to one side or area. Any recommendations on how I should proceed?

    Thanks Community

Haven't seen or heard about this kind of thing myself on the forum although someone might come up with a quick fix.

Myself personally I would first reinstall the ATK package from Chastity's driver page, otherwise reinstall the keyboard driver, worse case scenario I would whip the keyboard up and disconnect and reconnect the keyboard cable. Brown cable into white socket with black clip.

You can try reconnecting the keyboard or just replace it altogether ( see this for a quick guide). Any G51, G60, or G73 keyboard will fit, but the original G73 keyboard has a slightly different silver finish. The others have a matte black finish.

A replacement keyboard should cost between 30-50 dollars, if you are under warranty you can probably get asus to ship you one if you happen to talk to a nice person. They might insist on you sending the whole machine in, but I've heard of ASUS cross-shipping a keyboard under warranty so it's possible. Customer service at asus ranges from absolutely horrid to mostly decent, so you can always call back if you don't get far with the rep you happen to get.

The G73 has double sided tape holding the keyboard in place, so it is a bit harder to remove than other models. Just use care and try not to completely rip the foil, you can get your hand in there and try to separate it gently instead of violently ripping it up which may bend the keyboard.
