is there a way to change the idle and gaming clocks without flashing the vbios?

i tried att, msi afterburner, gpu tool and riva tuner - nothing works :(. the amd gpu clock tool works, but there are no profile settings.

you can use a shortcut like this and pin to start menu
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD GPU Clock Tool\AMDGPUClockTool.exe" -eng=90 -mem=130
    not automatic, but one click

A bit late, but i already found this out.
Is there a way to start 2 shortcuts at the same time?
It should be possible with batch files but I have no idea how.

Thanks for helb anyways :) .

Sure you can do 2 or more commands this way via bat file.
    OPen notepad - or wordpad
Type in or copy the commands you need.
on the last line type pause
    file - save as --
filename (which can be a single letter) such as a.bat then click save button.
click on a.bat and it will show up in a window on the desktop.
If you are happy with the results, go back and remove the pause, and resave it.

Saphhire's Trixx allows you to overclock and it still downclocks while idle etc. Sapphire is an AMD exclusive AIB partner.

This tool looks nice, but it doesn't really work.
When I select 200/400 as clock it is always switching between 200/400 and 405/1000 with powerplay disabled and enabled.
Isn't this tool for Saphhire cards only?

That is correct. 405/1000 is the idle clock which is set in the VBIOS for idle clock. If you want lower clock you have modify the VBIOS if you want it automatic.

Sapphire Trixx will allow you to overclock and then it will properly downclock to the 2D clocks.

What you are asking, you should just reflash your vBIOS with the clock settings you want. It's that simple.

    Yes, it's simple.
But I don't want to try anything that could break my GPU.
That's why I made this thread.

None. You can't change the voltage, it's hardware, not software. Blame Asus for that.

As I said, it's simply something you do with vBIOS. And if you read anything about having lower 2D clocks while on A/C through vBIOS you'll read you'll encounter flashing problems. Your screen will flash or flicker every time it changes memory clocks which is why the memory clocks are set to 1000 for 3D and 2D and UVD in the vBIOS.

Why do you need such low 2D clocks anyway when you are on A/C? If you want it done on battery, again it's a vBIOS which is fine, no flickering issue when you do that.

Damage to GPU by flashing a new VBIOS is practically zilch if you do it right. Just follow the directions and don't be an idiot.

Uhmm yeah i have modified my vbios already I configured it to just load in 300/300 and when I game I just make the GPU clock tool make it 700/1000 :) then after I game i just restore it to the original clock setting then it will be 300/300 again, I was trying to configure the "gpu shortcut" if it can make the volate .9000 if it cant I'll just go to my old ways Haha

My settings are 125/100 2D and 700/1000 3D. No flickering while single notebook screen. But I see flicker while my TV is connected through HDMI. Overclocking with Overdrive.

I use the Chastity Vbios, and if you open CCC while on AC you can select 2 options while plugged in - Max per. and max battery life- I select max battery life while on AC and it lowers temps 6 degrees C. I also modded the battery clocks with RBE to 85/[email protected] V - lowest I can get without issues. This is good for email , surfting but not video playback.

Hi boyz&Girlz, I thought that the modded v93 vbios would bring down the clocks when running on battery ? Mine only brings it down to 300/1000 :S, not really powersaving :D. I'm running on High performance though, since that one has the tweaks for my SSD (which i'm not sure is fully tweaked though).

Update: Its the same with other profiles. 300/1000 on battery mode.

Shockie, are you using this one:
Modded v93 vBIOS with lower timings for battery life (updated)
from here G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference
This gives 100/150, that is what i based mine on as referenced above.
Have you checked your Vbios settings with RBE?

    Yours darlin.
    Thats the one ;).

I'm not that familiar with RBE, anything that might point me in the right direction ?

offtopic, I did a clean install of windows yesterday, and I used to have this ATK package (for the wireless animations etc), where the bluetooth&wireless popped up in 1 animation. I'm using the 1.0.0010 version now, and its like: wireless pops up...4 second wait... bluetooth pops up...which is annoying.
Anyone know which version it is where they both pop up together?

Shockie, RBE - Radeon BIOS editor RBE - good for just looking at settings or easily changing for eventual reflash.
I am using ATK 1.0.0.0008 and they ( BT & wireless) come up in the systray at the same time.

Were you talkin about this one ?:

Cause thats the one I don't want... It takes ages for the animation to disappear.

I have no idea how i got that one though, any ideas on that ? Maybe on the installation disk? I must have looked over it somehow..

OK, that would be OD2. Sounds to me your power state changes are forcing the performance battery settings.

People here are referring to this unlocked vBios OD2
    http://pcaudio.ath.cx/stuff/fix_od2.rar

Directions on how to flash your vBios to that are included.

Shockie, this is a challenge now! If you open CCC - power- power play - make sure enable power play is checked on - change plugged in to- max battery life- do clocks go down to 100/150 on GPU? - Mine does clock down but even lower since I modded to 85/115 @ .95 V
Also are you using a power-4- gear plan or one of the windows plans, I have it installed but am using High Performance (1 of the standard windows plans)

Thats the one I installed 3 days ago. I already knew how to flash :p .

Im using a standard plan (which I tweaked for my SSD). Powerplay changed to batterylife (both) and went down to only 300/1000.. But never mind, I'll do it manually every time, no biggy  .
