On tests full charge G73JW ran about 105 minutes watching a movie on laptop and that was that.

Laptop movie transferring to big screen TV for some reason only ran about 45 minutes with laptop monitor off.
    Now why would that be.

GPU is used combined with the CPU when you watch stuff on TV from your laptop. Where as when you watch videos on the laptop, usually only the CPU is used (for decoding most videos).

Get a vbios with lowered battery clocks, and you'll be fine watching one movie.

    just a quick question guys..
I always use my g73jh-a2 with battery connected with adapter (always on charge). So can some1 tell me if this is unhealthy to the battery life and is there any other disadvantages of this? I dont use directly AC without battery cuz where i live sometimes I have electricity failure and that is why m scared if that happened I may lose data or any other damage might take place...
    THanks all

From what I read in G73 manual it will not hurt battery, sated there are sensors that shut off charge to battery when it is fully charged

Any one else getting 2 hours plus when using a G73 to watch a movie that is on (((hard drive))) not a DVD movie??

It's the heat that's an issue, not overcharging. Heat will degrade the battery lifetime faster so some people remove their batteries when using AC.

i think overcharging is a factor too
every baterry has specific number of charging cycles before it dies
, like every mouse will work for a specific number of clicks
if only the heat is the problem then i will keep my baterry on cold and it will last forever???

Deep discharge/charge cycles worse than small recharges.

It will still degrade over time when it's cold....just slower :)

I leave my LiIon batteries in all my devices....batteries have always outlived devices for me except for my one old-school (at least 5 years old I think) cell phone which I still use. Replaced the battery on that once.

Also do not be alarmed it it does not recharge to 100%, mine usually stays around 98 after recharge. Others have posted similar results so this is normal.
    People
If you use you machine on battery is there some magic percentage that you want to go down to? I have discharged mine to 5% remaining at least 30 times and HWINFO show only 6% wear...
PS Asus is sending me a new battery and I don't want to destroy it!!!

you will loose all your work ofcourse if you worked something
but also there is a small risk for the HDD (but personally i am not scared of that)
i have disconected the laptop without baterry many times

There's a small chance of damaging the motherboard when the laptop suddenly loses power (like 0.1% chance), unless its a powersurge. The hard drive will not get damaged, but just lose cached data (the OS caches data for a bit before it writes it on the physical hdd to degrade the HDD less)

Wow, I've had mine since last March (always plugged in) and the battery still lasts 1.5-2 hours in power saver mode with the GPU at 100/200MHz (normal web surfing). How long did yours last when it was new?

According to HWmonitor my battery is already at 10% wear level. I've had my G73 since mid-June. The battery does tend to get kinda hot after the laptop has been running for awhile. I think it's because of the close proximity to the gpu exhaust port. Maybe I should take the battery out when on AC power.
