notepal u3 is pretty good. Out of all the notebook coolers(sf-19,massive 23cs,rocketfish,antec 200) i bought it was the best. It gave me the lowest temps out of all.

I've ordered the Cooler Master SF-19 USB 2.0 version as seen here: http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master...03E2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321479152&sr=8-1

Prior to any modding or repasting my video card would overheat and reach the critical temp of 108c sometimes 110c max. I repasted and I still got the same results but it took longer to reach those temps. After doing the copper and drill mod I noticed my GPU still reaching around that level but didn't downclock as bad.

Now my cooler arrived this afternoon and after trying it out my max temp of 110c is now 100c and I'm guessing it stays between 90 to 100 when gaming which is very satisfactory for me. Mind you I upped my 260M clocks to match those found in the Sager models therefore did not perform an undervolt on my GPU (another reason my temps are higher than some, I undervolted in the past and it dropped temps by 10c but it was not stable).

Keep in mind I also replaced the stock paste with AS5 and did the copper and drill mod on my G51. I'd imagine the SF-19 would work really well for you if you drilled some holes on your back plate as well. Some people have sworn by the U3 and prefer it over this cooler (they also upgraded the fans to ones larger than stock). I decided to get the one I got because it already comes with large fans and blows cool air out very fast (considering you up the speeds to max). Cryo LX is supposed to be good. I won't be able to offer an opinion other than the one I've tried and results may vary from person to person and laptop to laptop.

EDIT: If this tells you anything I get these kinda temps for a few games I play regularly (these are max temps):

    Modern Warfare 2: 81 or 82c
    Battlefield 3: 99c
    Duke Nukem Forever: 101c

lol.. I woulda thought BF3 would go over 100 but that surprises me. And I was even able to turn some settings medium, some high and get playable frame rates. Game looks stunning. Hope this info helps! All of these games used to overheat my video card before modding and using a cooler.

Not bad mate, I predict one could get better temps with the U3 and considering you can move the fans directly where you need them. Another theory I have is that somehow my laptop's cooling is somewhat worse (could the fan be dying? it was never this bad). What are your temps at load without using the cooler?

May be a better cooler for the G51, aye. It's just a $20 difference after all and I'm glad I got a significant temperature drop that my laptop won't overheat to the point of downclocking. I'll definitely be keeping it around when I upgrade to some better notebooks in the near future. I'll be adding some more holes to my backplate later and check how it affects my temps.

Can you actually run BF3 using DOX 185.85? If it's possible I will give those a try since they're supposed to run cooler. I only overclock my CPU to 2.3 now since that's most stable (2.4 if I really need to) and run BF3 using a mix of med and high (this for mostly textures and effects) settings and minimum AA.

I'm using 280.26, one that's more recent but doesn't heat up as much as the 285.xx drivers. If I were using DOX I imagine I could get lower temps with the cooler. Will try drilling more holes first. I think the newer drivers are designed for better performance in newer games like BF3, SR3, Skyrim, etc.

Nvidia .. For the dox it will not work for u .. Sorry for the mistake .. I was trying to say iwas trying many drivers but still didnt get the perfomance i want from my laptop or my laptop should give . Maybe cuz of my high temp .. They are reducing my performance i guess

lol I think I was too excited to use the cooler (Cooler Master SF-19) for the first time my placement was wrong. I just now matched up the fake vent area with the center of the left fan and had a brief heavy gaming session where the temps averaged at 85 and never exceeded 89 or 90c where it'd normally never exceed 100-102c. So really this cooler has shaved off 20c which is an amazing feat in my eyes, especially for the G51 notebooks.

    Redneck response;

The cooler with the best performance would be a box fan aimed upwards with the laptop on top. The box fan needs a bit of space on the bottoms so it can pump air.
Either that or a window air conditioner pointed at the laptop (but takes gobs of electricity).
The laptop coolers that gets power off of a USB port is limited to about 2.5 watts (500mA) of power... a box fan is more like 40 watts.

The only laptop cooler that actually moves a lot of air (that I know of) is a dual 140mm fan cooler, that can be powered by a wall wart. I forget the name of the product though.

The Cooler Master SF-19 I got has dual 140mm fans and can only be used plugged into an outlet. Do you mean that?
