hello everybody, this is my first post on here and right now i'm at a standstill with deciding what headset to buy to enjoy awesome surround with movies and gaming.i don't mind spending a decent amount of money on a set that will fit my needs.i work offshore in the gulf of mexico for six months out of the year so i'm always traveling.i need something that's well built. i would prefer wireless so it's less to carry around along with my new g74 plus my clothes. my main concern is the sound i will get from whatever headphones i buy. i have been looking at all kinds and still can't come to a conclusion because i haven't been able to try any out. i would like to have a unit that will work for pc when i'm offshore but will work for the 360 and the ps3 when i'm home but mainly the 360. please help me out. i really am in a pinch here. sorry if i posted in the wrong place. i'm a noobie! thanks for any help. i've been reading reviews for the last 4 days until my head hurts.

sorry guys. i realize that this needs to be in the accessories section.

I have Roccat Kave 5.1 Headset and i love it : p but ya need USB 5.1 sound card to connect it.

you can also buy Creative Aurvana live headphones, probably the best headphones for its price ; P (but there is no mic) : )

both choice are great for movie and games.

Go with the Creative Aurvana. They are rebranded Denon D1001 headphones and better than the Roccat 5.1 headphones.

Creative Aurvana are among the best deals for quality headphones out there along with the Audio Technica AD700. Both of these are better than any gaming headphone.

I'll throw my recommendation in with the Logitech wireless 930 headset. It's 7.1 surround and can be gotten for around $130 (or less when on sale).

I love mine, and being able to walk around the house without wires is pretty nice. I use mine for music, movies, gaming, and as my home phone (using IP phone software with my company's phone system).

I've not really looked at the headsets you mentioned, but I know I've been very pleased with the audio quality of this Logitech headset.

i've been looking at the creative wireless dolby surround sound headset, the turtle beach px5 or xp500,the logitech wireless g930 or the g75. just still don't know what's gonna fit my needs. i know i'm reaching asking for alot out of a headset wanting wireless, dolby surround, good gaming characteristics, and great sound but i guess i'm just trying to find one that will do the job better than most. when it comes to main usage it will mainly be just me playing games on my own and watching movies. the Creative Sound Blaster Tactic3D Omega Wireless Gaming Headset looks very interesting though. the reviews just say they are extremely large and that worries me because i will be carrying them around offshore with me to work 6 months out of the year.

$300+ dollars for a gaming headset? That's quite expensive and you might get a better headphones with that money with real brands. But for solo gaming purposes might check Roccat headphones they build their products solid and Steelseries.

I tried @home both Roccat Kave and Razer Carcharias.

Both of them have a great sound , but the sound from the Roccat Kave was WAY better than the Carcharias one , way more immersive , deep bass and really cool remote control.

But , the Roccat Kave hurt after hours of " wearing " it , and it has a constant little " Buzz " that get on my nerve when they're is no sound ( you can't ear it while there is sound , but i'd like to keep my headset on my ears even when i'm browsing for minutes )

The Razer Carcharias was WAY ( i mean , WAY ) more confortable , and long gaming session is absolulty not a problem , probably the most confortable headset ever.

Final test : i choose the Carcharias cause i use to play WoW for hours , and the sound was good enough for me. Though , i'd rather play a 1-2 hours Call of Duty with the roccat ... but i'm glad to put it off my ears after a few hours.

    Make your choice xD

For around $100, which headset would you recommend, without a mic?

It if has no mic, it's not a headset anymore, is it? :p. Anyways, i do not have a good headphone recommendation. I went with a carcharias too and it is really comfortable indeed. I can wear it for 4 to 8 hours straight without getting pain around my hears or at the top of my head. The headset lets your ears breathe too.

Yeah , i forgot to mention that negative point. Well , negative , it depends. If everybody is screaming cause your house is on fire , you won't burn ( you will with the roccat kave )

But , you also ear that horrible TV show that your girlfriend is watching next to you with the carcharias ...

Well there is that, but i actually consider than an upside, unless your girlfriend/whoever's watching tv is cranking up the volume high, you probably won't notice it and not having your ears breathe is uncomfortable for extended periods.

Well, if I had to make my choice, I'd probably go for the Sennheiser pc350 (or any of the Sennheisers infact). I own it myself, and have never had any regrets buying it. Great sound, little low on the bass though (coming from a Razer Piranha, which has uber-bass), and very comfy.
To bad it aint wireless though, but you gotta make some compensation at some point.

I can recommend you SteelSeries Siberia V2. I playing mostly Quake Live, but its perform great in other games, movies and music pretty well. It cost about 70 Euro.

Any of those wireless suggestions are bluetooth? Infra red seems a bad technology to rely on if we are talking about sound, no?

I'll just reiterate that I and several coworkers have the Logitech G930 wireless, and they are well made (durable), comfortable for long periods, and have pretty awesome sound quality.

Everyone who has them that I know really likes them.
