    Hey guys.
My harddrive has just recently died, and I've lost the recovery partition. Called up Asus and apparently the only way to get it back is to send my laptop to them (to another city) and they will reload it for $50.

Problem is, its my only computer and I just can't afford to lose it for that long. Does anyone have any ideas?
Is anyone able to upload a ghost image or recovery disks?
I have the Australian g73jh(comes with win7 pro) if that causes any problems.

    Cheers,
    Brett.

As long as you don't mind loosing Power2Go, you can do a clean install yourself and install the drivers and your programs manually without needing the recovery partition.

Some of the drivers can still be found here: G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference

I compiled a list of the most important ones here due to links being down in Chastity's post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/640272-asus-g73jh-driver-disc.html

You can get Windows 7 here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-digitalriver-windows-7-sp1-13-languages.html.

This should contain everything you need to get your G73JH up and running again.

If you created the recovery DVD's using Ai Recovery, it will restore the hidden ASUS Recovery partition to your new HDD. I realize it may be too late for you, Brett, and many may prefer a clean Windows installation (I sure do), but this remains an option for those who wish to restore their laptops to out-of-the-box condition with a minimum of effort.

I believe ASUS sells the Recovery DVD's in their online store if you wish to cut down on the wait time of sending in your laptop for installation.

unfortunately I didn't create the backup disks. I got a recovery disk from asus($25 later) and once they didn't work I got told that they need the recovery partition to work.

    I should elaborate,
    Im after both:
    The recovery partition functionality
The original setup that comes with that recovery partition.

Ive installed a clean windows 7 before, and used the driver disk to try to minic it, but almost everything failed to work. wireless, backlights, o/c buttons. The only way ive found to work is to handpick the drivers i want to install from the asus website, and leave things like the wifi drivers out of it.

My Ideal solution would be if someone could post a clean set of backup disks they have created, or maybe a ghost image of the recovery partition may work. I'm happy to pass on that $50 via paypal to anyone who gets this working for me. as a note to that, I have the G73JH-TX0001 which is basically the Australian version of the g73JH-A1, except it comes with windows professional instead of Windows Home Premium.

Thanks for any help.... I'm really keen to get this sorted out, as currently everything seems to only be half working with my laptop.
