If I uninstall all catalyst programs and run driver cleaner on ATI, can I safely just install the newest catalyst package (11.4) while having no graphics driver without needing to update sequentially?

I have an "ATI" folder in like 3 places and they just have different versions of the installer

If you uninstall it (Go to catalyst install manager on uninstall programs then "change" and uninstall everything) you will still be able to install the newest drivers (after restart), but you will see everything BIG (because of the default VGA resolution), It was a little weird for me because I uninstalled the drivers (9.12) and when I tried the the latest drivers setup they won't install the Video Driver... so I searched around and found the mod drivers from Chastity applications guide: http://www.asusrog.com/forums/showthread.php?1150-G73-Series-Driver-and-Application-Reference

That worked for me and now I'm running on 11.4 RC2, everything seems pretty fast and stable.

I understand that removing a driver will reduce the resolution until the new driver is in. But about 4 years ago on my nVidia laptop, it was very important to remove ALL traces of a driver before installing a new version. I am just wondering if that is still needed or if the Catalyst installer does that for you.

No, no need to use all the acrobatics, and everything will not be big as mentioned above..

Use CCC and choose uninstall, reboot, install new drivers on top, works fine.
