Have owned several laptops over the years and have never re-pasted one. Does this mean that I need to periodically re-paste my new G73? if playing games is the cause i have occasionally tried games but my primary use is for other things.

Depending on temperature. old processors didn't get overheated as fast as new one. What is your processor? Mine I7 740m never goes higher 75C but I heard that on other laptops this CPU can reach 80-85. You should just remember what numbers are shown and sometimes check if new one are much higher or not under stress. I know people use Prime 95 to put CPU under heavy stress but there are other similar programs.

thanks for the reply -
If you use Nvidia graphic chips (graphic card) then you surely can use this one NVIDIA DRIVERS 6.06 to install Nvidia System monitor which gives you opportunity to check everything like temperature or clocks in real time. Gives info about CPU, GPU, RAM.
Not sure if it is possible to use if you have Ati/AMD graphic card -
Try searching this topic. Lots of good stuff to read. Which model do you have JH or JW? Read Chastitys thoughts on repasting thread, it's in the stickies. Use HWinfo32 to monitor your temps, it is free.

HWINFO32
GPU-Z
Gadgets:
All CPU Meter
GPU Observer
Just google those names and you'll find them easily. Just remember to only download from the author's websites to avoid "nasties" -
My new laptop [less than a month old] a Best Buy special G73jh i7 740. Down loaded HWINFO32 like you guys suggested and here is what I am getting temp wise---Celsius: core0 [44.0], core 1 [44.1], core 2 [43.0], core3 [43.0]---fahrenheit: core0 [111.2], core1 [109.2], core 2 [108.2], core3
[108.4]
if you guys go by the fahrenheit then my machine is getting too hot compared to some of the numbers i have seen posted. i have another laptop [ACER] that is 3 years old and my new ASUA don't seem to be getting any hotter on my lap than the acer does. in fact either one is uncomfortable on my lap. nor does the asus seem to be any hotter that any of the other laptops i have had over the years. would these numbers above indicate an asus only a month old will need to be repasted?
thanks again for the help -
44C is cold. I have 51C just browsing.
confused about repasting
