    Ok heres my situation...

I have a G73JH with the 920xm extreme processor and the intel 160GB upgrade (it still flies). In terms of hardware is it now a good time to sell this for im hoping 1k-1200 with the upgrades I put in it and grab this rig:

    PC CANADA - ASUS G75VW-DS72 I7-3610QM,W7HP 16G-DDR3,750G HD+256G SSD, BD-RW,17.3 FHD,NV GTX 670M 3G [G75VW-DS72] - The Original and Highly Rated All-Canadian WebStore

I'm speaking in terms of hardware and not the games that I play (because I know that can make my decision alone). Just hate to hang on to the g73jh for another year and I only get 5-600 for it... decisions decisions.... help me make my decision...

You will loose always money if you buy a notebook, also the G75 will be less worth after a short time. So in the end it doesn't really matter, except you need the extra performance of the G75.

i think the JH with 920xm and SSD + 5870m still have some juice to 1st quarter of the next year and if i were you i will consider anther brand that really have the upgrade potential for more future proof.

The thing is I would say upgrade, the JH is still a great model yes but the new IVY paired with Kepler is really going to make a big difference battery wise because you also have optimus and from using optimus first hand it is superb. The 5870M is a good little card but the old argument that its bandwidth made a laughing stock of the 460/560M is no more because they have managed to squeeze 80gb/s stock out of the 128bit bus on the 660M and word on the street is it overclocks like a pro.

You will certainly be coughing up some money for it but IMO 2 revisions and 2 generations is enough to upgrade.

but do you think the performance boost from going to the new 670m version worth the price dif cuz he is going to pay over 1300$ if you count that he can sell his JH for 600 - 850$ if the boost isn't a 100% in performance like what you will get from a p170 or p 150 with ivy and 7970m for the same price tag i think the upgrade doesn't worth it at all cuz all what he will get is around 15-25% of boost that will show in cpu demanding games.

I would take the 660M over the 670M any day of the week. I mentioned this on another post the real life difference is minimal a few fps at most and the benefits of it being the latest tech, cheaper, draws less power and creates less heat is worthwhile.

Relabeled graphics cards should never be an option sooner companies realise nobody buys them the quicker they are not an option.

If you are an Asus laptop gamer then you cannot compare the Alienware or Clevo to it because they are always going to be high end and Asus is going to be mid range but you will always be waiting a long time to get a 100% increase another couple years minimum most likely.

But it is the same for those that already own a Clevo look at my position moving from the 170HM to the 170PM is also not worthwhile as 4100 3DMark11 points from my 6990M to 6000 on the 7970M is only a 50% increase. The 7990M will be the upgrade I will go for next year.

Only the 660M is kepler, the 670M is just a normal Fermi, 40nm. And also Asus did not implement Optimus on the G Series.

I'd go with a 660M in a MSI, they use Optimus, Sager may possibly, but doubt it. Pretty sure Alienware does though.

Yes I know that the 660M is Kepler and the 670M not hence what I said in my post.

I did not know they are not implementing Optimus is this true? If so that is poor move by Asus I can run most of the recent games on my M11x with optimus alone even games like Skyrim get 30fps on my integrated HD 3000 and the new HD 4000 card in the Ivy CPU's is twice as powerful.

    That changes everything.

I appreciate all the great replies. I have been looking at this:

Reflexnotebook.ca is your Source for the Sager NP9270

I have allways wanted a sager but never could see myself dropping over 3K on a laptop but I really am considering it this time around. I was going to do the duel 675m gpu with 16GB of ram as my only modifications putting it around 2800$ without taxes. The upgrade potential is there as previously mentioned with the sager.... decisions decisions... I wonder how long it will be until it actually starts shipping...

    thanks everyone for your help

The 675M SLI is the same as one 7970M so that is a bad choice to make the 680M should be slightly more powerful than the 7970M so it will also produce the same power as a 675M SLI. The 675 is just a relabled 580M so it is old tech already. Always consider one powerful card over two cards that make a powerful output together because SLI is so software dependent and rarely does it produce 200% by having two cards.
