I was thinking of getting the G53 with the 460M, I know it has a multi touch track pad, so I was wondering off there is anyone here that has used, a macbook pro multi touch trackpad, and how they may compare. Is the zooming animation smooth, or the pinch to zoom on the browser smooth? Things like that. Also, if you have a Macbook pro, or have used one, how does the screen compare? Is it washed out, or are they on par more or less?

I seriously doubt it. Asus touchpads have had some serious sensitivity issues, and windows synaptics touchpads in general don't compare to the quality of the Apple trackpads. Given this is a major way we interact with the computer I'm shocked there is such bad quality out there. Should be much tighter QC IMO.

as for screen i love my G73 compared to my friends 2011 MBP. I think my 1080p 17.3" is much sharper.

If trackpads are of any importance to you, run as far away from Asus as you possibly can :D

LOL! I've never seen a non Mac computer with a touchpad as good as a Mac. However, a G53 plays Skyrim much better. ;)

I wish every PC laptop manufacturer would just outright copy Apple's touchpad design because it is a thing of beauty. It has no peer.

Most of Apple's touchpad "greatness" resides in the drivers. Try using said trackpad in windows with bootcamp and you'll know what i mean. The trackpad isn't that precise either, the tactile feel of the surface is great, that much is true. It is possible to adjust the settings of the synaptics trackpad, granted it comes down to tweaking, but it can make using it mor enjoyable.

If it's true that it's only software then that makes the PC laptop makers ever more inept for not making our touchpads competitive with Macs. I hope what you said isn't accurate because that's even more disgusting.

are you people talking about? The G73sw/G53sw touchpad is awesome. I can even do two finger scrolling with my fingers hovering 1mm above the touchpad.

I see that the ones complaining all have the JH. Obviously that's not the laptop the OP is asking about.

I don't know about the G53, but the trackpad on my new G74SX can't come anywhere close to the MacBook Pro that it replaced. Small tradeoff, since I game with a Naga mouse, anyway.

I have a JH with a *fixed* trackpad and it's perfect. Not a single issue and does every gesture perfectly. I imagine the SW's have the same touchpad just not messed up. The Mac touchpad is hard to beat though, that's one of the main reasons to consider a Mac.
