Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Go for it now.
The CPU easily crashes any mobile CPU, specially becaus it's unlocked, means that you can raise the multiplier and hit 4,5 or even 5 ghz on air with 2 clicks.
The gtx560ti is the same as my gpu (485m/580m) but I has some serious monster clocks, like it can reach 900mhz without even bothering too much.
In other word, compared to your laptop, expect a performance increase about 50-70% if not more.
Hope it helps. As you can see by my sig I have a similar setup, althought my CPU is the non K version and I have a gtx570.
But my brother has an i5-750 and a gtx560ti and he's rocking hard anything he throws at it.
It's not even comparable to the g53 really. The performance gap is soooo wide that you can build 6 bridges before even reach the edge. -
well my brother says it is a waste of money (because i bought my laptop wit $1200) and i will buy these stuff for which costs $700(with some discounts form the guy).
but i think that my laptop is (used) compared to the (new) parts that i will buy.
plus my laptop have 3 dead pixels in it.
but you think it really worth the money ? i mean selling my laptop for $700 and then i have to pay $200 ? -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
If your bro says its a waste I money...no offense but I think he doesn't really understand which kind of thing were talking about.
Simply put your laptop is a piece of crap compared to that monster you plan to swap to.
I hate when people's speak about things they don't even know.
Also how stupid is to base a whole concept about on how much you have spent on your laptop. Laptops costs that much because they shrink a generous amount of power in a portable form.
An high end desktop will always come cheap compared to a laptop, that's the sum of the price components, it's not a rule like "the more you spend the best you got".
My desktop is considered as an high end and I've paid for it 800$. And there's not even a point comparing it to a laptop. Not even to a crossfire 6990m or gtx580m sli (an these come mainly in 3k$ laptops, mind you).
Again no offense, but there's no really a lucid way to do a comparison. That desktop machine will perform like 3 g53 together and my experience comes from 20 years of system builder/overclocker, not to mention that in own a similar desktop.
Again, go for it now. -
@op
Your brother is right you paid a lot more for your laptop and its true you could easily sell your laptop for more than what you could buy and build that desktop for so its not worth it, and a few dead pixels is not a reason to give it up, lots of people ask these exchanges but its simple why would he do this unless he knew it was better for him overall? he will probably just sell your laptop and get a better desktop.
The desktop will destroy the laptop performance wise but price wise no way the 560 TI is not even that good a desktop GPU in comparison to others on the market and the whole point of a laptop is portability not performance.
If you hadn't said + $200 as well I might have said maybe. As you did IMO no way. -
ok i will call him now and go and buy it at this moment.
but one last thing you think it also worth the extra $200 ? -
Desktop Review SUX! Dont expect the same service you get here fella.
Just as a final reply from me I told you no. -
Of course a desktop is better for games. The only question is whether this is a good deal. Does your laptop still have warranty? How much would that desktop cost if you'd build it yourself? Are you from the US?
-
so i go or not ?!
-
Looks like Dallers beat me to it. I have to agree - this seems like a bad deal.
-
hmm it costs sorry EDIT : $1,039
so i can give him my laptop + 200$
and yes i am from usa.
but really i am sick of this laptop as when it reaches a certain level of temprature it will drop the fps.. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
I'm kinds on the opposite side of Dallers.
I say yes no matter how you put it.
First because it's a sandy bridge desktop CPU, there's no even a point of discussion.
Second of you came to think about a swap of that measure, probably you don't need a laptop at all, isn't it right?
Third the gtx560ti is a great desktop card, it's halfway between the gtx480 and the 470. It's a medium end card with serious horsepower.
Fourth I speak with experience. If you don't own a sandy bridge desktop you cant understand how much performance gain you have.
Relying only on your knowledge without experience leads to nowhere, after you game on a configuration like that all the things said about desktop vs laptop fails miserably. Theres no comparison of sort here.
That's my final reply, its up to you, either way good luck.
Ps: a gtx560it and a sandy 2500 made an awesome 70fps of average on f1 2011 on ultra with 8xQsaa. If you know what it means then you know what to do. -
Calm down and don't do anything. First, you need to find out for how much your laptop is actually worth. You could probably sell it for more than 700$. Next, calculate how much would a new desktop cost if you build it yourself. I'll bet you could get a better desktop for the same price than what that guy is offering you.
-
i mean come on people this laptop wil die in 1 year and by that time noone will ever buy it for 800$ !
ok the total cost for the pc is $1,038 tht means he will buy the laptop for $800 cuz i will pay $200 more.
i think thats okay because it has 3 daed pixels(in the middle) and it is used.
so i guess i will go for it because my laptop will die and i cannot upgrade the video card and the cpu upgrade is just too expensive! -
Kingpin, we're not talking about whether a desktop is more powerful or not. That's obvious.
We're discussing whether that offer is a good deal. -
Kingpin I dont care if you are on the opposite side of what I am saying what you are saying is completely idiotic performance means nothing when the OP is left $200 out of pocket with something that is worth probably another $200 than the laptop he currently owns because he is jumping on the performance posts that you are quoting.
Exactly as Sarge just said do not make a rash decision it is not a good deal and even if it was then he should not be coughing up an extra $200. -
i dont think i am laptop person... i dont even know why i bought a laptop lol.
you wont belive me if i am telling you that i use and external lcd monitor and external keyboard and mouse and even external speakers XDDD
i have my laptop on a side and using it as a tower XDDDDDD
i didnt move my laptop form its place maybe for a month XD -
Even if you only got $7-800 for your laptop add the $200 you are looking to pay this person and for $1k you could get a much better setup. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Dallers, the opposite sentence was just to highlight my point of view.
For god sake I'm not going around in circles saying that you're totally wrong.
It's your opinion, mine is just the opposite of yours and sarge. all happy? I think so.
If he comes here sayin that he's sick of his laptop and he's ok shelling 200$ for it, then I'm ok with it.
If we talk about on how much he can do by selling his laptop elsewhere it's not my business, it's up to him.
As sarge said, desktop will always be better than a laptop right? His question was just that. Would that desktop be better than his laptop?
Fact: yes.
I've just outlined the performance gap to further help him in his decision. In the end it's his decision, thats all.
And I know you don't care about other users, let alone have respect for them, but I'm fine with it -
actually no i cannot get a better setup because the current setup costs $1,039 i was just checking the prices in newegg (i really good website) and the total was $1,039 so i can only wait and see it online(which i hate and never done before) or just go now and get the other pc at the same time
but selling it online is annoying as you have to wait and wait and you dont know if the person will buy it for$800 or not and if he will except the 3 dead pixels in middle of the screen or not ...... i guess i will just go for it but i just need somone to push me to go for it -
I just checked Newegg. You can get a desktop with a Ati HD 6950 2GB (much better than 560Ti!), Intel i5-2500k, Gigabyte mobo w/ Z68 chipset, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD and 550W PSU for under $800.
-
Just make sure you are doing this as your own choice not because people start raving about performance just because they are hell bent on having better performance than everyone elseBut I would seriously look at what others are saying to back up why I am saying dont do it for instance:
I love that feeling too but waiting sometimes gets you better, im sure your friend will still be willing to do this deal next week if you dont get something better.
-
also the gpu and the cpu only itself costs at least at least 500$ without taxes ....
-
-
ati is much cheaper but id rathar have an nvidia.
also what about the dvd burner ? tower ? ram modules ? hdd 5400 or 7200 ? as 500gb 720 hdd costs 129.99$... and was it with tax or without tax ? -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Well when i stated my opinion on the swap i took into account 2 things:
- your laptop has 3 dead pixels
- your laptop seems to overheat and turn unstable after some usage (based on your previous posts around)
Given the fact that problem #2 could be resolved , for the screen unless those are stuck pixels (aka fixable) that drops the resell value quite a bit.
So IMHO his offer of 700$ taking into account those problems is honest, since probably he would need to spend some money to fix it.
Thats all. -
dvd = 20.99
hdd = 129.99
gpu =250
psu=70
ram=50
motherboard = 130
tower=55
~1050$ -
What website is that Expert?
If that is a build your own PC custom website that is going to cost a lot more as you are buying the prices + Tax/vat and pay for labour for fitting etc. As Sarge mentioned you can get some very good ready made deals if you did not want to buy all of the items trade price and build it yourself. -
you guys also forgot the fact that my laptop will die in 1 year (or should i say i wont be able to play games at high settngs)
-
me and sarge checked the same website and it is Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more! we build it manually.
-
and the computer i am getting is also NEW and EACH PART IS INDVIDUAL i will build it in my house later
everything is 100% with 3 years warranty on everything he said(i just called him)
NOT HE ALSO WILL GIVE ME 12 gb of ram instead of 8gb i just told him and he said okay np -
I think your mind is already made up but your G53 wont die in one year fella people thought BF3 and Skyrim would eat our laptops alive and they are still chugging away perfectly fine.
If you want to go for it go for it, consider what has been said however and take a look at the deal sarge mentioned. That is a bargain for a 6950 as well. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
probably even less than one year, I had the sandy bridge version and it began to be a bottleneck in newer games.
But that's not a problem, you could always step down resolution to like 900p and Lower a few details if you plan to game on it like everyone's does. -
yeh but the only reason why he will buy it from me with 800$ is because i will buy the desktop form him .... becuase he have a computer store
-
kk guys thank you soo much for your replies i will close the computer and give it to him now
cya laters.
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Well also 12gb of ram is a nice bump, for free as well.
It's up to you I did my best, but as always keep in mind others opinions as well. -
Hope it does not come back to bite you Expert, make sure you stay on the forum however!

2. windows experiance index score for the video card is 6.0 ?!?!?!?!? how is that even possible ? (latest drivers, all the power cables plugged in 2x 6 pin cables.
3.if the temprature for my cpu is bad then how much tempratures i SHOULD get on the i5 2500k overclocked and on stock and the max temp and the average and the minimum(idle).
4.my video card came overclocked to 850 core clock and i overclocked it even more to 950 is that okay ? what are the max safe overclock for my video card ?
MY SPEC:
