this is like 3 times now this has happened. but if i leave my computer on for a while unattended, i come back and sometimes the screen just wont turn on, and nothing will happen. only the blue lights are on and i have to either hold down the power button to restart, or if i pull the charger cable it immediately shuts off, even tho the battery is full.
    any ideas?

Sleep mode? Should go to your power settings and turn that off and the "Turn display off" off.

Have you tried pushing the space bar? it should bring it back. Else as the above your can change the power settings so it doesnt go to sleep while is plugged, but its a personal preference.

i have all of those disabled already. i have closing the lid set to "do nothing" and to never sleep basically.
its not asleep cause nothing i do brings it back.space, escape, ctrl alt del. nothin. and i thought it was funny that pulling the power cable caused it to shut down immediately even with a full charge.

I have this same problem as well, but I only experience this when I leave my G73JW unattended for a period of more than 5 hours (that I noticed). All of my custom power settings as well as the Power4Gear settings have the sleep mode disabled. The G73JW becomes unresponsive and only the blue lights and the keyboard lights are on- its like on permanent sleep or something forcing me to manually shut down the G73JW with the power button held.

This only started to happen to me ever since I installed my Vertex 2 120gb SSD. A minor annoying inconvenience but doesn't really bother me considering that my G73JW boots in under 30 secs.

Odd... only difference between us is that I have an SSD and you don't (stock config as you say). Never had this problem on the stock HDD.

    Anyone else with this problem?

*to add to the list= my SSD disappeared from the boot priorities today, had to set my Vertex 2 back in the boot priorities to get back into windows 7. Odd...

i hope its not something that will get worse down the road. you think asus would take a complaint like this seriously enough to try and address?

This also happens to my 1-week old G73JW-XA1 - all stock, clean install of win7. I've checked my power settings and standby settings too.

So far its more of a minor, weird annoyance than a stressor.

Well it doesn't hurt to ask however, expect an RMA if they decide to take a look into it and expect several weeks without your G73JW.

The only solution I have come to is to now turn off my machine entirely if I know I am going to be away from it for a period of 5hrs or more. Before, I never turned off my computers/laptops.

Minor, but annoying issue nonetheless. I've had this happen on my old HP Pavillion. Randomly fixed itself one day. You can always just put your laptop to sleep mode, but that's no help if you're trying to leave it on for a scan or a torrent or something. Can you remember the last thing you installed/modified before this started happening, or did this problem occur out of the box?

What happens if you turn Sleep Mode on, let it go to sleep, and then try to wake it up? Does it respond as it should, or same problem?
