well i've been having a lot of troubles lately with my laptop =[

1st the vent cover starts cracking now im getting the bootmgr is missing blackscreen on boot.

i put in my win 7 disk and tried the boot repair option 3 times now, and finally i did a system restore to a point 2 days ago and still nothing. it boots then blue screens right away then says bootmgr is missing. i can't try an asus system restore as i dont have the disks but i can try to re install windows 7 to fix the issue. i was wondering if anyone had any other recommendations before i try to start with a fresh os

This seems to me like a problem with your hard drive. Try to remove/re-plug your hard drive and if you get bootmgr missing again, then try a new hard drive.

2nd possiblility (though less likely) is that the RAM is faulty. I've seen hard drive content get corrupted when data is written from a faulty RAM, but it is unlikely to get bootmgr missing a few times in a row. Test your ram with memtest86+ too just to make sure, but still I think it's your hdd.

I did a system restore and checked bios and it showed both hd's but in my computer only one showed up so I'm restoring again and I'll see if it shows up if not I'll mess with the hd. Makes sense if its the hd tho as it didn't show up. Thanks for the info
