Ok so i search search and search and find a few "fixes" for my non sound issue.
Basically, i get the post sound through the speakers, but no sound otherwise. I can get sound in from my head phones.

I tried the Bios fix with the post sound and volume change - nothing
I tried the regedit fix but could not find the location of the file i need to edit.
I have no idea what to do.

Did you try updating the sound driver.

Hi kyomagi, are you sorted yet?

Found sound issues myself with configuring the microphone under Win7 HP 64, couldn't remember the thread location last night ( or today for that matter...) Am heading away with work soon and wanted to be able to run some video comms apps to communicate with my wife and children, so it seems logical to combine efforts with regard to sound issues).
Personally, I don't like the way asus provides their "drivers". I had issues with them last time I owned an Asus (F3 series), but eventually got there.
The (Asus members) G51 bestbuy forum is dead and therefore not much of a source, I've made a few posts there and had only one reply. NBR, by contrast still seems to have some activity... :)

I'll try and post a screengrab of my sound properties from the device manager as I have no output issues, but do seem to have a minor issue with the microphone. ( But I have done a clean install of the OS with as little of the Asus' bloatware as possible...)
    Regards,
    Dave
