So, basically I wanted a G74sx, but they are expensive as hell.

Which is better a g53sx-a1 for around $1100, or a g74sx-a1 for around $1600 (about a 46% increase in price). (Note. this is in Canada)

I know that the 53 has a gimped GPU with only a 128 thread instead of the 196, also I was looking forward to the 17" screen. However, I don't really want to risk bricking the 74 to get rid of the keypad issues when updating the bios, especially as I'm planning on bringing it back to another country (although I know the warranty is global).

Money is most definitely a factor. So once you consider that the 74 is about 1.5x the price, is the gimped GPU really gonna upset me that much when playing Skyrim or Diablo 3 (when it comes out) ... or other great games over the next few years that I'll regret not having the 74? (I can't imagine the lack of blueray would much).

Really agonising over this so I'll appreciate the opinoins of some of you who know better, and maybe have these rigs.

    Cheers,
    Barcs

(Oh yeah and the fact that the 53 only comes with 1 HDD so there's no RAID 0 going on ...)
