would like to buy a 37-42 inch plasma TV and connect my laptop to it. Can someone tell me some pros and cons of doing that? I would like to watch downloaded movies on it and also play games like world of warcraft and crysis. can someone tell me what TVs should I look at? wats the 720p 600Hz vs 1080p 60Hz?

I am not sure how local stores are but I have seen only 720p plasmas at 600 Hz.. but never 1080p. Guess my stores suck or its just too expensive/non existent? (please verify)

Make sure you buy a Branded HDMI cable (like Rocketfish, Banbridge, Belkin etc.. and preferably 1.3v or even 1.4v. However it may not be necessary depending on your planned usage).

Crysis will play nice on it but I have to say, you WONT like world of warcraft on Plasma TV.

I have recently bought large monitor and TV and wanted to enjoy some WoW on it.. but HDMI cable is not designed to transport Text very well and it all ends up blurry, over saturated. Simply put, WoW looked horrible and pain to play. I fixed this by using dual-way DVI cable.

This is my own experience, dont have cash to test things on various devices so better wait for some more feedback! =)

Thanks for the reply. After all I went ahead and bought a 42" panasonic plasma with 1080p and 600Hz. Everything looks great, but i cant seem to be able to get the resolution right.

I have it set on 1920x1080 recomended, but not everything is fittinig on the screen. Like i am missing a little bit of a Start button or 1/2 of the computer icon etc.. Does anyone know how can I fix this?

This is a Scanning issue rather SImple to fix

When your tv is plugged into the laptop

Right click on the desktop and open up CCC(Advanced)

click the drop down menu and choose Desktops and Displays

right click the TV icon in the bottom list configure

choos scaling options and drag the little slider over till everything fits your screen.

here is a link to another post I made with screen shots.

Also, You will not be able to use it at 600Hz as the 5870M I believe is limited to 60HZ or OEM's limit them to 60HZ

    I have a 52" LCD Sony TV with a resolution of 1080p.
I can plug my Asus G73JH on it and play full HD movies while raiding in world of warcraft!
I have very good FPS on both screens, no video or cpu lag!
