about 3 weeks ago, I was talking here about big heat problems. I was getting 75C-77C idle, then with vbios getting 67C. Like some of you told me, I cleaned my vents (just used vaccum on my laptop) and my idle went down to 55C, I was happy. Now I'm getting 71C idle and it's really high when we think that on idle it's downclocked...
I know it means themal paste time... but it's not the question. Why did it come back so quickly? About +15C in 3 weeks is high no?
-
Could it be your ambient temperature that gives you the big swing?
-
Your paste might be drying up... Probably time for a repaste.
Plus, you should clean your computer every like 3-4 weeks for optimal temps anyways, so I would try doing the vent thing again. -
you could spend all day guessing and acconplish nothing. check and clean for dust again, make sure nothing is blocked, confirm via gpu-z that it's going into idle mode and then crack it open for a physical examination and reapplication.

Is this the JH or the JW?
-
Yeah well a few days ago I noticed it was already way higher, but didn't care much so I know it's not the ambient temperature (yes it was high but can't go for 15C) and well I guess I'll clean again if possible. Yes yes I know about the termal paste and I would really love to do it.
it's a JH -
I noticed on my firends G73 that if the ambient temperature went up by 3-4C that it would double what his gfx card went up to. So if he was idle at 58C then it would go up to about 68C if the ambient temperature changed.
He has also never repasted.
On mine this does not happen but mines has been repasted properly. -
Hey, I gave a little shot of air at the laptop, it's now 50-54 idle! I was told to do it 10 cm away, but I can't imagine how it would be if it was closer. That's great, so now yeah I really know I have to clean it once in a while.
EDIT* wait wait.... Now, about one hour after, my idle temps are now 68C -
Having had several laptops apart including my G73, I have noticed that the radiator fins that the fans blow through to remove the heat have a great tendency to collect dust and other debris. As the fins clog up with debris the airflow is reduced diminishing the cooling. Blowing out the debris with canned air usually just moves the debris around inside the laptop, but doesn't really remove much of it and it soon finds it way back to the fins. The only sure fire way of cleaning is dis-assembly which is a real pain with the G73.

try to do a repaste it will sove ur problem and while doing a repaste make sure u clean all the balls of dust inside the g73.
g73 heat coming back quickly
